- APIT is a platform of policy advocates and researchers working as a hub among the development actors. Since its inception, in July 2004, APIT worked hard to achieve its strategic objectives and maintained quality, relevance, efficiency and integrity whenever it embarked on any program or research initiative to unfold itself as a people-centered and research-based policy advocacy organization. APIT considers the futuristic and a historical (to the extent of being oblivious to the past) nature of current development policies and programs as threats to achieving sustainability. Hence the strategic approach of APIT is to revisit the past, identify the development effectiveness and link it to the present and future potential initiatives. Sustainable development underscores the need for demystifying development and policy audit/process by synchronizing the essence of past efforts with present interventions, which would create a basis for future undertakings. Moreover, the concept of sustainable development essentially captures the presence of all social actors in the policy and development process. APIT firmly believes that policy literacy is the driver of social change as it alerts people to the possibility of their disempowerment through the espousal of wrong policy options. APIT therefore seeks to carry out policy research and advocacy and effect social transformation through meaningful policy milieu. Recent alteration within the 'development' discourse caused by 'global forms of extraction of the economic resources and monopolization of culture and knowledge' has created a policy vacuum from global to local levels to the detriment of the public interests. Therefore there is now a dire need for rethink and revamp of understanding of 'policy intentions', received wisdom of macro-economic policy of government and donors within the global-local policy continuum. Out of such a realization, APIT initiates Policy Literacy Circle as part of its Policy Appreciation Initiatives. Advancing Public Interest Trust (APIT), a research based policy advocacy organization pursues its all programs under a number of broad thematic arenas- 'Confronting Exclusion', 'Public finance and public governance', 'Natural resource management', 'Appreciation of globalization' and 'Responsive business'. In line with its vision and missions, APIT frames the programs and the programmatic strategies of the organization which largely favor to uphold the principles and attain the goals of each premise.
