About
I am Secretary of the board of the Self Advocates Network of Kelowna, which is an integration organization that enables people mainly with behavioral and mental diverse abilities to access professional teams who are able to help resolve problems. Self Advocacy is involved with poverty, housing, management of living conditions, team building, building methods of communicating with the political and economic organizations in the community.
Interests
Enabling the socially excluded to organize to be part of CED [community economic development] networks, building capital asset programs such as IDAs [individual development accounts]. Also I have been involved with Occupy Wall Street organizing at the local level, and have participated in surveying our local political candidates for municipal office on how they envision protection of the savings of vulnerable investors and how to ensure that the Covenant on Social, Economic and Cultural Rights is the basis for all bylaws and legislation. I was very involved with the Culture of Peace Initiative of UNESCO from the late 1990s to 2010; and I attended the Edmonton Social Forum in 2003. I am hoping to find others who are interested in getting North Americans to understand and appreciate the social empowerment value of the Bolivarian and justice movements in Latin America.
