Während des Weltsozialforums (WSF) in Tunis haben Flüchtlinge aus dem Lager Choucha ihre Forderungen an die Öffentlichkeit gebracht, z.B. durch Kundgebungen mit Transparenten am Eingang, Teilnahme an Demonstrationen, Workshops und der Assembly on Migration sowie in Medieninterviews und einer Pressekonferenz (siehe Berichte auf dem Blog unten). Seit Ende letzter Woche sind 41 der anerkannten Flüchtlinge aus Choucha, denen die Einbeziehung ins Resettlementprogramm verwehrt wird, weil sie später ankamen, vor dem UNHCR-Gebäude in Tunis im Hungerstreik. Wir haben versucht, sie dort zu unterstützen und Gespräche mit UNHCR-VertreterInnen zu erreichen, was leider bisher nicht gelang. Seit heute scheint sich die Situation zuzuspitzen (siehe Bericht unten auf Englisch).

Wir fordern Euch alle auf, über Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung nachzudenken, z.B. durch Schreiben bzw. Anrufe an den UNHCR und Herstellen von Öffentlichkeit!

Actual situation of the Choucha refugees on hungerstrike:

The situation in front of the UNHCR office in Tunis is getting worse. Yesterday the refugees and some few supporters tried to talk with people of the UNHCR staff, but when they were talking with one man, Ursula Schulze Aboubacar, the person repsonsible for UNHCR Tunisia, came by car and ordered that nobody should talk with the refugees or other people in front of the building.

During the last days, already some people collapsed and the ambulance came to bring them to a hospital. Today also two people collapsed, but no ambulance came, and it was told that there is an order (from whom?) that ambulances should no longer take refugees on hungerstrike to a hospital. So the two people were brought by taxi to a hospital.

It is very urgent to get more support for the Choucha refugees in order to make pressure to the UNHCR to listen to their demands. You find them on the blog below. Please forward the information and think about ways to do something, also from Europe!!!
