  • Secure E-Mail and Other Services--Read ASAP

from Dean Edwards on Feb 28, 2015 04:35 AM
I have mentioned this regularly, and the deadline is now upon us. When Iceland adopted its new privacy laws, they enabled a degree of privacy unsurpassed in the world.

unseen.is provides activists, journalists, and others, with secure e-mail, conferencing, and related services. While basic accounts are free, during their early stages, they hav e been also offering their full, Premium, Accounts at discount for LIFETIME. After 1 March, these services will be offered for a monthly fee.

unseen.is forms the first part of a security-privacy regimen that was developed by Occupy Toronto and West Papua Media. This site begins with written communications via e-mail, but includes more.

So, you all should evaluate your needs. Wikileaks was directly involved in the draft legislation in Iceland. This company is one result.

Take a look at unseen.is before 1 March and consider their premium lifetime account before the end of 1 March.

In adition, there are two other sites that complete the security needs for democracy movements in the world of official and private surveillance:

silentcircle. com offers encrypted and secure telephone services, plus texting and contacts. The phone service is called
    Silent Phone

They also offer a comprehensive Internet service, Black Phone. With this, all Internet activity is hidden.

Finally, data storage, offered by a partner of silent circle.com.

For secure data storage take a ooh at spideroak.com

The basic 2GB accounts are free. Their 1TB, one-terabyte, accounts are $US12/mo

Security and privacy have been concerns in western countries and in others with brutal dictatorships. It all comes down to surveillance, so take these sites seriously and decide on your needs and those you communicate with.

There are journalists and activists who have suffered and died without having the protection of these services. Privacy is and has been a major concern. With these services, and with their continuing development, as we move into quantum computing and ultrafast Internet, privacy will melt away without these defenses.

    Peace,
