EN M2 Message about two possibilities for extended participation in PSF

Hello to the "Canada & FSM" list with 400 facilitators of workshops in PSF and 250 people who participated in Tunis 2013.

We are a group "Fsmwsf extension Canada," which promotes in Canada the " extension of social forums" and the "extended participation" in these forums. We started slowly but surely to hold sessions of remote participation with the World Social Forum (WSF) in Tunis in 2013.

What does it mean an 'extension' of a forum? It's simply to open up the opportunities to participate in a forum for all those who wants to be an active participant of a forum process, but are outside the central place where this forum is organized and who can now have the opportunity to participate remotely, "so extended."

Our contribution to the extension of the PSF in 2014 is open to those who are outside of Ottawa in late August 2014, to offer perspectives for extended participation in PSF. The mission of our group is to promote the extension of forums that are in Canada and encourage extended participation practices from Canada in forums that are held worldwide.

In the short term, we wish to expand the distribution of information about the PSF, encourage the experience of extended participation and encourage other Canadian groups to plan the preparation of their extended participation from Canada to Nepal, and Africa forums in 2014 and to the World Social Forum in Tunis in 2015 (see the WSF calendar here):

For people who are not in Ottawa in PSF at the end of August, we offer, with the agreed support of the PSF organizing committee , an invitation to the extended participation in two forms:

• participation in an "internet WSF cafe Ottawa" open throughout the PSF from 21 to 24 August, and
• viewing live video of workshop + written chat skype inclusion during some workshops scheduled at PSF which will have been "extended" on the internet by their own organizers. (400 PSF Workshop organizers are on the list)

As was experienced in Sarajevo in June 2014 during the social forum on human security, the WSF café offers the possibility for impromptu conversations in small groups among the participants on site in Ottawa and participants outside Ottawa. It also allows télé-visits of PSF

2 / The enlargement of PSF workshops from ottawa

The goal is to view live video of discussions in the workshop + skype chat with a correspondent/ spokesperson in the workshops

A / If you are an organizer of a workshop in PSF and are interested by the idea of expanding participation on the internet to your workshop

You will need two volunteers each with a computer, one to produce a live video broadcast and the other to chat with those who watch live video

IMPORTANT We request that you create an account as of today and indicate in the the form your new public skype account to welcome starting in August 5th, all future remote participants in the workshop ( a suggestion for this account is short name of your organization account "myorg" followed by ". extension" so "myorg.extension" will do nicely)

Workshop facilitators who will have announced extension of their workshops in the google will be welcomed in an e-mail list "Extending PSF workshops"PSF/FSP extending activitiesand receive specific guidance.

It is possible to set up a training session for WSF cafe volunteers or extension volunteers, in Ottawa and / or via skype .

Bonjour, sur la liste « Canada & FSM «regroupant 400 facilitateurs d’atelier au FSP et 250 personnes ayant participé a tunis 2013

Nous sommes un groupe «Fsmwsf extension Canada », qui fait la promotion au Canada de « l’extension des forums sociaux » et de la « participation étendue » a ces forums. Nous avons commencé lentement mais sûrement à tenir des sessions de participation à distance depuis le FSM Tunis 2013.

Qu’est ce ça veut dire ‘extension’ d’un forum? Ca veut dire simplement ouvrir des possibilités de participer à ce forum à toutes celles et tous ceux qui se sentent participants actifs du processus forum mais se trouvent à l’extérieur du lieu central où ce forum est organisé, et qui vont alors pouvoir participer alors à distance, « de manière étendue ».

Notre contribution à l’extension du FSP 2014 ouvre ainsi à ceux qui se trouvent hors de Ottawa fin Aout 2014, des perspectives pour participer de manière étendu au FSP. La mission de notre groupe c’est de promouvoir l’extension des forums qui se trouvent au Canada et d’encourager la pratique de la participation étendue depuis le Canada à des forums qui se tiennent partout dans le monde.

A court terme notre action va contribuer à élargir la distribution d’informations autour du FSP, et l’experience de la participation étendue au FSP encouragera des groupes canadiensà planifier la préparation de leur participation étendue depuis le Canada au forum du Népal ou au forum africain en 2014 et au forum mondial de Tunis en 2015. Pour les personnes qui ne sont pas a Ottawa au FSP fin aout , nous proposons en bonne intelligence avec le comité d’organisation FSP, une participation étendue au FSP sous deux formes:

• a participationa un « café internet FSM Ottawa » ouvert durant tout le FSP du 21-24 aout
• le visionnage vidéo en direct + clavardage skype en retour danscertains ateliers programmés au FSP qui auront été « étendus » sur internet par leur propres organisateurs.( les 400 organisateurs d’atelier sont sur la liste

Comme on l’a vécu à Sarajevo en juin 2014 lors du forum sur la sécurité humaine, le café FSM fonctionnantavec des volontaires a Ottawa, offre la possibilité de conversations impromptues en petits groupes entre les participants sur place à Ottawa et les intéressés de l’extérieur. Ils permet aussi des télévisites du FSP

2/ L’élargissement d’ateliers au FSP depuis ottawapour visionnage video direct des discussions dans l’atelier + clavardage skype avec un correspondant-porte parole dans l’atelier

• A/ Si vous êtes un organisateur d’un atelier au FSP et êtes intéressé(e) par l’idée d’élargir la participation a votre atelier sur internet,

• Vous aurez besoin de deux volontaires avec chacun un ordinateur un pour faire la video en direct l’autre pour faire le clavardage avec ceux qui regardent la video en direct
• IMPORTANT Nous vous demandons decréer des aujourd’huiet l’ indiquer dans le formulaire lecompte skype public dans lequel vous accueillerez a partir du 5 aout les futurs participants a distance dans votre atelier ( un nom abrégé de votre organisation « truc »suivi de « .extension »,donc « truc.extension » fera très bien l’affaire)

Les facilitateurs d’atelier qui auront répondu sur les ateliers élargis sur internet seront dans une liste courriel« fsp extending workshops » et recevront des indications spécifiques. Il est possible de monter une session d’entrainement pour volontaires café fsm ou élargisseurs d’atelier ,à Ottawaet/ou via skype.
