Dear friends in Caritas Network

We are (signing persons)  currently, first two in charge of CI participation in WSF process, and last two representatives for CI network in the international council of World social forum  ( WSF)

We write you to give news about WSF process ,  CI relation to it, and propose ways of participation in it

The WSF process is ongoing, and it is much needed in the current context of accumulation of crises.  

In a recent letter sent  august 30th by its general secretary  CI reaffirms its intention to  continue  participating  in the WSF process as CI network and OM in relation to values  upholded in CI ,  1. It is our conviction that the WSF is, and will continue to be, the privileged space for building ideas, initiatives and meetings of citizens of the world, synergies of organizations and networks, movements and civil society entities that, like Caritas, believe in "building another possible world."

We join for your review  a calendar of events  including  in 2018 general WSF and water alternative forum in March in Brasil, and migration social forum later in 2018 , in Mexico  http://openfsm.net/projects/wsf2012-support/wsf2017-calendar

We  hereby warmly  invite you to participate in WSF process in two ways, that can be combined :

  • 1/  face to face participation in social forum events, which many of you have done since 2001, this may be seen as costly, but is an unforgettable human experience
  • 2/ participation at no cost through WSF extension dynamics that CI is  contributing to sustain, since  as IC WSF member “ we are “committed to contributing to making this "WSF space-process" increasingly accessible, friendly, relevant and appropriate to people and entities who, in the whole world and in their diversity, believe that another world is possible, and struggle to build it”

Now going into more details about those two ways for participation

1/ “save the dates”  ! travelling to Brazil up to your possibilities and interest,

  • In Salvador  and In Brasilia  CI could  organize a seminar on migration issues which will be a meeting point for CI OM which otherwise can register some activities  
  • Also CB will support CI OM for practicalities information visas accommodation. CB will come back on the exact content of this support

2/ join  as of now from home  “WSF extension dynamics, as CI OM and as individuals

  • The participation in  this WSF extension dynamics is based on two simple moves incurring no expenses :  “ placement” of local activities by a CI OM ,  and “ remote participation in activities ”  in personal or collective context , which are explained in the annex below*
  • In the coming months CI CB intend to place the following meetings xxxxxxxxxxxx  and invites other CI OM to do the same and make CI action visible. Remote participation activities placed by other CI OM  is also a way to be in contact among CI OM and exchange experiences.

Annex 1   Caritas & CI FSM  30/08/2017

Caritas Internationalis (CI), based in Palazzo San Callisto, Vatican City, by its undersigned Secretary-General, hereby reaffirms its JOINING as a member of the International Council of the World Social Forum.

We take the opportunity to explain the reasons for this joining:

  • 1. It is our conviction that the WSF is, and will continue to be, the privileged space for building ideas, initiatives and meetings of citizens of the world, synergies of organizations and networks, movements and civil society entities that, like Caritas, believe in "building another possible world."
  • 2. The principles defended by the participants in the WSF and expressed in its "Charter of Principles", such as the defense of fundamental rights; the fight against injustice, poverty and misery; the construction of a model of solidarity and sustainable development centered on the human person; the fight against all forms of discrimination and violence; the opposition to a totalitarian and economistic view of development, among others, are also the principles and aspirations of the Caritas Network present in more than 165 countries in the world.
  • 3. As a Member of the WSF IC, Caritas Internationalis, in addition to continuing being a "participating entity and network", is committed to contributing to making this "WSF space-process" increasingly accessible, friendly, relevant and appropriate to people and entities who, in the whole world and in their diversity, believe that another world is possible, and struggle to build it, or are at the stage of wondering if and how that other world may be possible

Annex 2  placement of activities and remote participation in those : two moves in WSF extension dynamics

  • A/ placement  of CI OM local activities in wsf process : A CI OM  that want to show its participation in the WSF process can “place” as “activity” in WSF process, and open to remote participation through the internet, an upcoming  public meeting it plans to organize in its own country any time any where,  on themes related to. “The principles defended by the participants in the WSF and expressed in its "Charter of Principles" This “placement of activities ”is announced through an online form a and  incurs involvement of one or two local CI OM volunteers conversant with Internet taking up the role of "correspondents" for remote participants, and no further expenses than those made for the logistical preparation of the meeting.   • B/  remote participation in dynex1WSF activities  : CI OM members and volunteers can personally join the extension dynamics and be included in an online space, where they will receive invitations to participate remotely in “activities” proposed by other organisations. Caros amigos na Rede Caritas

Nós somos (pessoas assinantes) atualmente, primeiros dois responsáveis ​​pela participação da CI no processo do FSM, e  ulitmos dois representantes da rede CI no conselho internacional do Fórum social mundial ( FSM)

Escrevemos para dar notícias sobre o processo do FSM, relação de CI com ele, e propor formas de participação nele

Em uma carta recente enviada em 30 de agosto pelo seu secretário-geral, a CI reafirma sua intenção de continuar participando do processo FSM como rede CI e OM, em relação aos valores defendidos em CI,. 1. É nossa convicção de que o FSM é, e continuará sendo, o espaço privilegiado de construção de ideias, de iniciativas e encontro de cidadãos e cidadãs do mundo, de sinergias das organizações e redes, dos movimentos e entidades da sociedade civil que, como a Caritas, acreditam na “construção de um outro mundo possível”.

Nós juntamos, para revisão por vcs,um calendário de eventos, incluindo, em 2018, o FSM  e o fórum alternativo da água em março no Brasil e o fórum social de migraçoes no México http://openfsm.net/projects/wsf2012-support/wsf2017-calendar

Convidamos vocês a participar no processo do FSM de duas maneiras, que podem ser combinadas:

  • 1 / Participação presencial nos eventos do fórum social, o que muitos de vocês fizeram desde 2001, Isso pode ser visto como dispendioso, mas é uma experiência humana inesquecível
  • 2 / Participação sem custo através da dinâmica de extensão do FSM que a CI contribui para sustentar, 3. Enquanto Membro do CI FSM, a Caritas Internationalis, além de continuar sendo uma “entidade e rede participante”, reassume o compromisso de contribuir para que esse “espaço-processo FSM” se torne cada vez mais acessível, amigável, relevante e apropriado às pessoas e entidades que, no mundo inteiro e na sua diversidade, acreditam que outro mundo é possível, e lutam pela construção desse,

  • Em Salvador e em Brasília, a CI poderia organizar um seminário sobre questões relacionadas com migracoes  que será um ponto de encontro para a rede de CI OM, quem de outra forma podem registrar algumas atividades
  • Além disso, a CB apoiará as CI OM para obter informações sobre praticidade de alojamento vistos. O CB voltará mais alem sobre o conteúdo exato desse apoio

2 / juntar-se agora sem viajar a  "dinâmica de extensão do FSM, como  organizacao CI-OM e como pessoas

  • A participação nesta dinâmica de extensão no FSM baseia-se em dois passos simples que não envolvem despesas: "colocação" de atividades locais por uma CI OM e "participação remota em atividades" num contexto pessoal ou coletivo, que são explicadas no anexo abaixo *
  • Nos próximos meses, a CI CB pretendem colocar na dinamica as seguintes reuniões  [xxxxxxx lista xxxxx] e convidam outras CI OM a fazer o mesmo e  assim tornar a ação de CI mais visível no processo FSM. As atividades de participação remota colocadas por outros CI OM na dinamica de extensao  também são uma forma de estar em contato entre o CI OM e trocar experiências.

Teve uma reunião de preparação em salvador 15  20 de outubro, que foi colocada na dinamica por um equipe Dynex1FSM de CI/CB

Enquanto isso, sugerimos que você salve as datas e o web sites e registre-se na dinâmica da extensão FSM que a CI co facilita
