Comentarios A

Ver comentarios A,

Version 2 proposed from proposal 1-

ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE AND WE CAN BUILD IT!

EMERGENCY CALL

Online Dialogue, September 12

To the international alter-world social movements, organizations and networks,

( To those who clearly stand against neoliberal capitalism, patriarchy, racism and all forms of domination and against the civilizing model that oppresses nature)

Another world emerges from the coronavirus pandemic. What world is that? We know that the situation may get worse and we are in a global emergency situation, facing a predatory and unequal world.

We want to face it, that it changes for the better. We know that we can change this world if we work together on global ideas and actions.

There are several initiatives that try to channel this dissatisfaction for an internationalist and transversal movement capable of overcoming neoliberal capitalism.

Unfortunately, facing even more dramatic scenarios than before, several social movements that are still alive around the world are disarticulated on a global scale. Finding opportunities again to re-articulate our resistances and alternatives is the greatest and most important challenge.

That is why the International Council of the World Social Forum has opened a process of dialogue with movements, organizations and social networks from all over the planet. As part of this process, we facilitated a first broad virtual meeting to listen to interventions, commenting on some guiding questions on June 27. (link to synthesis made by Rosa ¿)

As part of this dialogue, the International Council of the World Social Forum, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2021, puts to your consideration the possibility of holding a planetary event in Mexico City, which would be preceded by a long phase of meetings. online or decentralized face-to-face, and of which phase this event would be a culmination, with perhaps a post-event phase, where the diversity of agreements and initiatives formalized in this event will land.

This next WSF -event-process-event 2021-2022  would be implemented as an environment where the different movements that work in the construction of alternatives to the world in which we live can expand their voice and be stimulated to build articulations. The online phase could start when there is an organizational dynamic to launch it, and the event can be logistically prepared when health forecasts allow planning.

There remains the issue of the perception of the political relevance, usefulness and political viability that such a process-event would have for social movements and other civil society organizations around the world.

In this political dimension, and this time not as IC-WSF, but as a political diversity of entities that participate in it, it seems fundamental to us that in a smaller meeting that facilitates dialogue, we meet some of the movements, organizations and networks more active and significant international organizations in today's world, so that we jointly reflect on the world that will emerge from the current crises and our potential to build convergences and strategies to transform it, as well as examine the possible new cooperations that can contribute to promote the articulation of the struggles and initiatives and to build, and to reinforce something like a “global social subject”, using, using or in part, or not using, the framework of a next WSF process-event, 2021-2022 mentioned above.

It is clear that in a 3-hour meeting, such a political dialogue on “why” and even less on “how” cannot be concluded, and this dialogue could continue according to the modalities to be agreed. However, the tonality of this meeting will be an important indication for next steps that we will take as IC-WSF

Movements, organizations, networks, platforms of civil society that act at the regional and international level receiving this message are, then, invited to participate in this online Dialogue that will take place on September 12, 2020, at 8hrs from Mexico, through the platform (Zoom).

Never before has the need for greater cooperation and convergence been more evident than it is today, considering that we are facing an emerging right-wing authoritarianism, a climate collapse, and growing inequalities.

We will strengthen the union of ideas and actions to change the world.

The serious reality we face requires that commitment from everyone.

We count on your participation.

8:15 Presentation of participants (only name and organization)

8:30: Presentation of the theme of the meeting by the IC of the WSF.

It is a political dialogue between organizations, some members of the IC and others not, and not a dialogue between "the IC" and some organizations.

Guiding questions:

·      What is the strategy of your presentation by each organization and what the international dimension of their struggle, taking into account the current situation created by the pandemic?

·    How can we build together responses and actions to the world situation, and how do we see that a  next WSF  process-event 2021-2022 could serve for the maturation, formulation, reinforcement, implementation of these joint global strategies?

8:45: First Round of Participations, from 2 to 3 min. (2 organizations invited for each IC member) - 20 more or less interventions

9:45: Second round of participations - 20 interventions more or less

With the possibility of expression of all the organizations in writing during the meeting and a few days later so that the time limitation does not truncate the quality of the dialogue - 30 lines equivalent to 2 to 3mn -

10:45: Possible conclusions, directions and possibilities for a second meeting

11:00: End of the meetingENGLISH  (automatic)

Version 2 proposed from proposal 1-P1EN

SYNTHESIS This version 2 is without changing the substance of the guiding questions specified in the AGENDA part at bottom of text

The proposed changes aim to make the framework for the dialogue as clear as possible: dialogue between whom? (between organizations, whether IC or not); for what? (see the 2 points in the political dialogue paragraph, and the 2 guiding questions), taking into consideration what? (the possibility of a process-event FSM XIV)

Color code - additions to proposal 1 deletions - explanatory ABC comments that are not part of the text

Comment A - Affirm the evocation of WSF XIV as a process-event, and not only as an event

Comment B - Position the meeting as a political dialogue between organizations, and not between "the IC" and the invited organizations.

Comment C - Offer the possibility of contributing written inputs so as not to constrain this dialogue session to a time of verbal expression that is too limited in consideration of the potential number of participants

( link to synthesis made by Rosa ¿ )

As part of this this dialogue , the International Council of the World Social Forum, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2021, also wishes to put to your consideration the possibility of making a planetary event in Mexico City, which would be preceded by a long phase of decentralized online or face-to-face meetings, and of which phase this event would be a culmination, with perhaps a post-event phase, where the diversity of agreements and initiatives formalized in this event would land.

This WSF XIV event-process-event would be implemented as an environment where, to expand the voice, the articulations of the different movements that work in the construction of alternatives to the world in which we live can expand their voice and be stimulated to build articulations The online phase could start when there is an organizational dynamic to launch it, and the event can be logistically prepared when health forecasts allow planning.

Comments A

1 / “Putting into consideration the possibility of a WSF XIV” implies also affirming its character as a process lasting two to three years in the present case, of which the WSF XIV event, important as it is, will be only a culmination.

In this paragraph, it is worth mentioning the notion of "decentralization" and of "online meetings", of "preliminary phase", (which can last more than a year yet, if the event is earlier at the end of 2021) , of "post event phase". These mentions can be the object of consensus in the IC

Speaking nothing more of an event in the text will probably be perceived as a reflection that, at the time of concrete implementation, and despite the stated principle that the fsm is a process, there is not as much vision of the WSF as a process in the IC.

2 / Beyond these generic notions mentioned in point 1, the “why” or “how” of a WSF XIV has not been formally discussed to date in the IC, in relation or not to the accumulated experience of implementing the WSF principles, through a WSF methodology: forms and moments of concrete participation in real manifestations of the process.

For this dialogue, it is still relevant to document the problems related to "why" and "how", to arrive with more elements to the discussion with this will take place. Recalling the proposal of a fourth GTCI group in charge of this documentation. This is another matter that is not related to the writing of the invitation letter for September 12

There remains the issue of the perception of political relevance: and if together with you we agree on the usefulness and political viability that such an event process would have for social movements and other civil society organizations around the world.

However, in this political dimension, and this time not as IC-WSF, but as a political diversity of entities that participate in it, it seems fundamental to us that in a smaller meeting that facilitates dialogue, we meet one of the movements, more active and significant international organizations and networks in today's world, so that we can jointly reflect on the world that will emerge from the current crises and our potential to build convergences and strategies to transform it, as well as examine possible new cooperations that may contribute to articulate promote the articulation of struggles and initiatives and build , and to reinforce something like a "global social subject", using, using or in part, or not using, the framework of a process-event FSM XIV, mentioned above.

Comments B

For the clarity of what this meeting of September 12 is, it is very useful to distinguish two things

1 / On the one hand, the IC, which has collective co-responsibility as IC in the organization of a possible WSF XIV, “puts for the consideration” of the participants in the meeting of 12, the perspective of a specific WSF XIV process-event - evoking its process dimension, of which the event is a culmination. See comments A,

2 / On the other hand, a political dialogue is proposed “between organizations, members or not of the IC”. It is something as if there were a self-organized activity in the preparatory phase WSF XIV with the title: “What can we do together? ”- There are some organizations that cooperate to organize the activity (the organizations present in the WGIC Articulation). There are those who come, there are those who do not come (either from the IC, be invited). There is no collective voice for the IC in this political dialogue, apart from point 1 of considering the possibility of a WSF XIV on the implementation of which the IC will have to decide later.

This invites us to make a clarified use of the word "we", in the interventions in this dialogue, that will be made on behalf of each organization. For example: we in our organization, we present, IC members, or we present… .–

Then, during the dialogue, all the organizations that express themselves, whether they are from the IC or not, are giving their answers or comments to the guiding questions on their own behalf. These can involve giving their own vision of what "the IC could be or do in the immediate future", or of "how this process-event WSF XIV could be so that it is useful and relevant for the strategic objectives of our organization" etc. .(As the last sentence of the paragraph indicates, Using WSF process is not a requisit to enter in this dialogue   which is  "descentered from the forum ) .

3 / Also, not all the organizations present in the IC are among “the most active and significant international movements, organizations and networks in the world today”, which is the invitation criteria, which does not disqualify them from participating in the dialogue.

It is clear that in a 3-hour meeting, such a political dialogue on “why” and even less on “how” cannot be concluded, and this dialogue could continue according to the modalities to be agreed. However, the tonality of this meeting will be an important indication for next steps that we will take as IC-WSF.

Movements, organizations, networks, platforms of civil society that act at the regional and international level receiving this message are, then, invited to participate in this online Dialogue that will take place on September 12, 2020, at 8hrs from Mexico, through the platform (Zoom).

The meeting is "by invitation "

Never before has the need for greater cooperation and convergence been more evident than it is today, considering that we are facing an emerging right-wing authoritarianism, a climate collapse, and growing inequalities.

We will strengthen the union of ideas and actions to change the world.

The serious reality we face requires that commitment from everyone.

Commentaires A

ESPANOL propuesta 1

ENGLISH (automatic)  proposal 1

ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE AND WE CAN BUILD IT!

EMERGENCY CALL

Online Dialogue, September 12

To the international alter-world social movements, organizations and networks,

(To those who clearly stand against neoliberal capitalism, patriarchy, racism and all forms of domination and against the civilizing model that oppresses nature)

As part of that process, we facilitated a first comprehensive virtual meeting on June 27.

However, it seems essential to us that in a smaller meeting that facilitates dialogue, we meet the most active and significant international movements, organizations and networks in today's world so that we jointly reflect on the world that will emerge from the current crises and our potential. to build convergences and strategies to transform it, as well as to examine the possible new cooperations that can contribute to articulate the struggles and initiatives and build a global social subject.

As part of this, the International Council of the World Social Forum, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2021, also wishes to consider the possibility of holding a planetary event in Mexico City, to broaden the voice and articulations of the different movements that work to build alternatives to the world in which we live, when conditions allow it and if together with you we agree on the usefulness and viability it would have for social movements around the world.

Movements, organizations, networks, platforms of civil society that act at the regional and international level are, then, invited to participate in this online Dialogue that will take place on September 12, 2020, at 8 am in Mexico. , through the platform (Zoom).

FRANCAIS (automatique) Proposition 1

APPEL D'URGENCE
