CHALLENGES to be faced in the consultation/discussion in and around group G2

  • WHAT IS WSF PROCESS?seen by a caring community as IC has tried to be,WHAT ARE THE MISSIONS OF IC ?WHAT IS THE RELATIONBETWEEN IC AND other facilitation bodies that could emerge ( see questions Q1 SCOPE and Q2 MISSIONS)
  • a reflection on 4 formal possible areas for wsfprocess and the sustaining actions with those areas
  • outside wsf event organizing strictly speaking (perimeter A where IC WSF was created and is fully legitimate) , a wsf caring community can sustain or increase the influence/legitimacyof IC through efficiency of its process and through intercommunication proposed with possible groupsand initiatives inside perimeters A/ B/ D/)

  • NAME? FROM IC (international council) TO CC ( caring community ) to CI ( caring initiative ) ? ( see questions4)

    • why not change name : from international council to "caring community" or caring "initiative" – caring about wsf / communauté curatrice = prenant soin du fsm – comunidad de cuidado -cuidando del fsm-.

    • "caring" motivates to "facilitate" and to "contribute" - not just to "counsel" and "decide"
    • "community" or "initiative" means some operating rules and a membership process
  • WHAT TO DO IN SUCH A COUNCIL GROUP/ COMMUNITY/initiative- how to act as ic ( see questions5 about action of ic )

  • HOW TO WORK HOW TO HOLD CC/CI TOGETHER WITHOUT A formal/informal CENTRAL GROUP(liaison group which bred conducts of delegation inside IC) ( see questions10 on organization - and Q12 13 14 about the meetings)

      • institute –“changing functional & structural groups” -
      • they are called "structural" because they hold the CI/ICtogether – they form the structure of IC
      • they are permanent but their composition is meant as fast changing with one cycle of activity (meeting to meeting ) and partial renewal individual and collective rules (no more than 3 consecutive participations, and minimum 50% renewal each time)
      • they are inclusive by duty : it is a duty of every caring group member to be active in 1 structural group - so no one in IC/CI can say he/she is not concerned about the various aspects of operation of IC
  • HOW TO STIMULATE WSF process and IC operation CONTRIBUTIONS BY MEMBERS OF IC/CI ( see questions11)
      • lack of active participation in meeting and between meetings , may be linked to lack of motivaiton or lack of vision of what to do
      • institute a status of "contributive member" given by peer to peer review ( accessible to representative and independent alike and a yearly review - ((cifuturG2 about contribution profile))- see contribution 3 part 2 - and a more detailed description of the review protocol
      • develop practice ofopen groups( "distance 1"), where formal community members cooperate with other active wsf process participants
      • explore how much timemight community member dedicate to caring about wsf, develop clearer idea of what community members could do and commit to do in and out of meetings
      • share the duty to operate stuctural groupsholding the community together and avoiding information and power concentration

    • HOW TO BE INCLUSIVE& MORE EFFICIENT in the formal community caring about wsf process ( see questionsQ6 7 8 9 )

      • institute a “dual membership” (see details) and accommodate both organizations represetnatives and independent individuals- this is a way to mix culture and ways of partiicpation in wsf process, and include new energies

      • criteria can be explicited

      • organizations can PRESENT "independents" in the community , who needs to be presented formally by minimum 3 organizations ( presentation reviewgroup to be organized)

      • 2 representatives per organisation with whatever mandate

      • 3 presented persons max par organisations

      • target as many independent individualsas representativesin the formal community with equal psosible participation all working groups
