I'm glad to see this list made manifest, I look forward eagerly to our discussions! Since we have all just been added to this list, and likely many are wondering if someone is going to step out from behind a curtain and present with a neatly organized plan for the discussion - I hope I'm not mistaken, but I have a hunch that this isn't going to happen, nobody is coming to rescue us, and we are left to organize ourselves! So I'll ask the first question: Is there already a moderator for this discussion list? If so, then I'm happy to cede the floor, but if we are left to organize ourselves, then I would propose we begin by first establishing agreement on the basic logistical questions: - Agreements for the appropriate use of this list; moderation responsibilities, and guidelines. - Defining infrastructure for information to exist online (website/wiki; where/how?) as well as other communications practices, such as online meetings and voice conferencing. Normally, I would propose we find a time for a meeting or call by making an availability schedule, and creating a pad for making the agenda together, then using the meeting to discuss the tasks and roles ahead of us, and how to address them collaboratively and effectively. But out of respect for the diversity in our accustomed ways of working, and getting acquainted with a new group of people, I would prefer to tread lightly, and open the discussion to others in a way generates interest and participation. I look forward to all that we can accomplish together! Betreff: [G2 - CI futur Consultations] mandate G2 and other groups Dear friends, First of all, Thanks to Pierre and Laura for making these lists available. They should give us a good opportunity to exchange ideas. One question however: I see that the mandate of group 2 is limited to 'consultations' and the mandate of group 3 is worded as 'strategieS' - this is not what I understood in Tunis. The consultations of group 2 are meant to be able to discuss the strategy of the IC, whereas I understood the mandate of group 3 to concern the strategy of the WSF. Please let me know whether this is correct. Dear Shawn, Thanks very much for your enthusiasm and reaction. Before we can start doing our concrete work, we will have to see the material we have. As I said, I do have the full list of IC membership and list of participants in Tunis. But we do not have the participation in previous meetings. So we are awaiting a reaction from Laura to see whether we can get this. The other thing, the consultation, was initially an idea of our Italian friends. So maybe we have to await their proposal, to see how we tackle this. As for the synthesis, I will see with Gina how to approach this, and I guess this is a point where help may be needed. At any rate, I do hope other members of this group will react soon, so we see who is there to help and do the work. Hear you all soon, many thanks in advance, Francine Van: Shawn Carrié [mailto:shawn@...] Verzonden: 27 April 2013 19:10 Aan: IC-G2 Onderwerp: [G2 - CI futur Consult Carto Eval Strategy Synth] Beginning I'm glad to see this list made manifest, I look forward eagerly to our discussions! Dear all, Thanks for the efforts. Although I have some doubts about the setup of these working groups and the 'mandates' (I miss the ideas about how these working groups relate and work together, etc) I am ready to try to make a contribution. I'm Jasper Teunissen from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Tunis was my first WSF, but I have been involved in the organisation of national social forums in my country. I'm also active in my local social forum, which is very different from the WSF events, but I think both dynamics can learn from each other. I'm also involved in Occupy (locally and in different related international networks), and I'm interested in building understanding of differences and possibilities between practices of the WSF and Occupy. Let's see where we can go! greetings Jasper Op 28-4-2013 9:24, Francine Mestrum schreef: > > Dear Shawn, > > Thanks very much for your enthusiasm and reaction. > > Before we can start doing our concrete work, we will have to see the > material we have. > > As I said, I do have the full list of IC membership and list of > participants in Tunis.
