Dear friends,

Let me begin this note with good news: last night panel organized on thge
urgent theme of Sweden's membership in Nato by Kristna Freds, IKFF and
others at the Peace House of Uppsala was great!

The meeting was fully attended, in the face of media silence and complicity
with the powerful pro-nato/pro-business lobby along the lines of the
military-industrial complex denounced by Eisenhower, to which we need to
add a subdued/coopted media.

Henrik, from the board of Kristna Freds in Uppsala and at the national
level was great as moderator.

The panelists were:

1) Stina Orcarson, an awesome speaker, theater director, player and author,
who presented a 6 minutes long animated film as a very effective
pedagogical tool of popular education and consciousness-raising. An
unexpected ray of hope in the midst of silent complicity in the chain of
undemocratic developments in this privileged country. One could call it
"NATOGATE" to summarize the situation.

2) The representative from IKFF, whom I had earlier met but whose name
slips my mind was knowledgable and good communicator.

3) Leif Albinson, represented a Saami organization, who pointed to the
dangers to the environment and the lifestyle of the Saami people in the
shadow of Nato encroachment in the artic region - and again militaristic
solutions, mentioning that Saami culture is one example of a culture of
peace to the world.

In the background of the above information, let herewith suggest the
following steps:

1) That the short animated film made by Stina is translated as soon as
possible to English and show it at the Gothenburg meetings on Nato 13-14/5
- and later at the WSF 2016 in Montreal and at the IPB Seminar in Berlin in
september 2016.

2) Additionally, one should absolutely invite Stina to all the three named
events, to amplify globally the one-person campaign she is engaged with in
this country.

3)  That Saami representatives are invited to the Pro-Peace/against
militarization of the artic and EU activities in Goteborg, WSF 2016 and IPB
201,

4) The same applies to invite Victoria Tauli-Corpus, currently the UN
Rapporteur for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (as mentioned to Leif
Albinson) - to all three events.

Another World is Possible - If and only if we, as concerned and engaged
citizens, work for democracy, justice and peace in our midst and in
everyday life - and therefore against militaristic propaganda and cover-up
policies, as well as to effectively deal with the challenges implied by
climate change, massive flow of refugees, fundamentalism, terrorism, the
growth of xenophobia and extreme rightism in our midst.

No to Swedish membership in Nato!

Dear Reiner and Per,
Here is the youtube/popular education (6 minutes) beautifully and
pedagogically done. I hope, trust and request that the film be shown tonite
and tomorrow.
The english version is found as follows:
Access Youtube and seek "Nato på 6 min" and then choose subtitles in
english.

PD: Will check inmediately departures for Gothenburg. Per will support my
travel expenses with 500 sek. Would you Reiner (IPB) cover the residual
costs to return to Uppsala. It is afterall a working meeting for IPB: to
decide our program at the WSF 2016. Let us converse as planned by 13.00
later on by phone. I will know by then my arrival time in Gothenburg.
