Peace and Climate European/Prague Spring Conference

UNITED for Intercultural Action, International Young NatureFriends (IYNF), Young Europea Environmentalists (YEE), Alliance for Labour and Solidarity (SpaS, Czechia), Organizers for the Left (Hungary), Society for European Dialogue (SpED, Czechia), and Prague Spring 2 – European network against right-wing extremism and populism – organize this conference in Prague on 25-26 April 2020 with the support of transform!europe.

For this reason, the organizers have decided to invite activists from all over Europe, in order to build the basis of a renewed and common strategy to cope with the multiple global crisis and to share the vision of a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable society where life is not threatened by climate change, hate, wars, malnutrition or overconsumption and money greed.

The European/Prague Spring conference will be the only preparatory conference in Central and Eastern Europe aiming to bring its results to the World Social Forum (WSF) that will take place in Mexico (January 2021). Importance of the connection between social and environmental movements is eminent, so the aim of the European/Prague Spring conference is pretty clear. The experts of the conference will seek for social and environmental (ecological) alternatives and look for answers to the multidimensional crisis.

Our blind race for profit and growth is anything but sustainable. Failing economic system, global warming, wildlife extinction and pollution brings the urgent need to admit that. The world leaders are not so keen to change the course while drawing in more money for military spending at a time of increased global instability. The conference’s aim is to mobilize human and financial resources for better involvement of Central and Eastern European (CEE) activists in the World Social Forum.

For this reason, the conference will include:

● Panel discussions with activists from peace, trade unions, environmental, women and youth movements and initiatives that will help deepen understanding on the relation between problems like climate crisis, social and environmental injustice, wars and military spending – and their current solutions by movements and governments,

● Workshops to develop new alternatives in each sector and cross-sectoral,

 ● General debate on the European and World Social Forum process with the aim to mobilize participation (not only) from Central and Eastern Europe in the WSF 2021 Mexico.

The organizers would like to ask whether you would be interested to come and join us at the conference. We would be really happy to have you in Prague. We are looking forward to your reply. We are available to answer any questions you may have.  Have a nice time.
