here is a first comment

You can see

-the blue area for activities in Baghdad case 1 (reflecting in English the activities in baghdad (Arabic form)

-the yellow area for intentions of solidarity activities out of Baghdad /and tele intervention case A/2

-the green area for intention of tele exchange activities (video conference) case B/3

-the red area for intentions of tele participation case C1/4A streaming and C2/4B private videoconference

The build up table gives access to the summarized vision of the responses to two google form abroad and baghdad ( transcribing the icssi forms ) and the two response display spreadsheet - see first rows of each colour

You can find some more explanations on the build up page here

http://openfsm.net/projects/iraq-social-forum/isfextension-program-buildup

status of announcements –see row 1 to 4 of table

For the moment the 20 activities announced in Iraq isf are not yet reported in the blue area rows 1-20 and the red area mentionning those that would accept some form of tele-participation

The first proposals coming from "abroad" before wide dissemination of the international call are visible in real yellow line 40+ and 70+ made from Tunisia and Germany and waiting for counterparts in baghdad

There are some announced from Lebanon and Palestine and Mauritania that should come soon

There is still no proposals to host tele-participation or to have tele-exchange coming from Baghdad

data update of the build up page - frontal icssi forms > backoffice google forms > build up page

There are two “frontal forms” one from abroad (icssi site) and one from baghdad ( text and soon google or icssi site) They are meant to be “simpler” than the google form ( they have no options to be selected..) they can be transcribed in the two google forms “from Abroad” with intention numbers Ax, and “from Baghdad” ( with intention number By)

This should allow to edit new real rows in the green and read areas of the table proposals from baghdad

real rows and fake rows

The "real" rows like 40+ and 70+) will replace the fake rows progressively as people fill the frontal forms and isf extension team fills the google forms from Baghdad or from abroad

matching intentions on both sides

Couples of matching intentions “Abroad and Baghdad” can form inter-communication projects like shown in rows where there is a “Ax <>By” number in column D

Matches can form autonomously or with help of extension team  ( see tasks 1 2 3 ) and the groups making them will then get in contact together by skype and start preparing their tele-exchange or tele- participation together with support of extension team, and during this preparation test of live stream can be organized and make sense

So the list of tasks of extension team can be described as follows

0/august - Volunteers isf extension team

 assign volunteers to organizations

a isf extension team volunteer to each Iraqi organizations and to each international organization – send international intentions

0/-1 the isf baghdad volunteer will ideally accompany the organization to fill the icssi from , transcribe it in the google form , give intention number edit the buildup page, follow all contacts with this organization and will support it during isf event for option A/2 B/3 C/4 inasmuch possible – one international person may

0/-2 each  time an icssi form is filled by international , ( this is done through the dissemination of the participation call an international volunteer of isf extension gets in contact with the organization and will become its assigned volunteer

so for each couple of organizations there is a couple of volunteers

also and secondarily each Baghdad volunteer can be backed up by a abroad volunteer- in order to have someone to talk to by default

role of volunteers

Volunteers if properly informed and included can take care of or help in all tasks 1 2 3 4 5 6

some volutner may prefer to make only certain tasks

Iraqi organisation / Iraqi volunteer + abroad volunteers >> matching counter parts

it is good to assign a Baghdad volunteer to supporting to a specific Iraqi organisations

it is good to assign a international volunteer to supporting to a specific international organisations

also isf extension volunteers from abroad can support the Iraqi volunteers and help them in international contacts

 schedule of volunteers during ISF

volunteers need to make a schedule in Baghdad during ISF to know who is doing what in which room with which organizations - to detect impossibilities and solve them

when

volunteers have the reedit link of all intentions they have created

volunteers have editing access to the build up page

volunteers have editing acessin the the isf space on openfsm

tool

baghdad each for option A/2 and B/3 if 2 counterparts the standard tool proposed is skype between 2 people and many people know how to use it – they can switch between audio video and written chat depending the connection conditions - they can test the audio and image conditions – and gather the necessary equipment for case A/2

for option B/3 with more than 2 counter parts the tool can be proposed by isf extension volunteers

for option C/4B skype can be a tool to connect various counterparts to one “hosting person” creating a chat room in advance – isf extension team volunteer can train the hosting person assigned by the Iraqi organization to run the chat room

for option C/4A the streaming tool can be defined by isf extension volunteers who take charge of the streaming and the chat tool can be skype

it is good to create as soon as possible the streaming channel specific to the Iraqi organization so it can use it several times-and make an invitation video of 2mn using the streaming channel – also preliminary test can be made full scale streaming with chat with linking person and some tele participants

who take the role

in Baghdad can be isf extension team volunteer + interpreter by interpreter team or organizations

to be found by the organization – may be isf extension is available and willing

camera person often isf extension team volunteer – linking person os organization

equipment contribution

organization can contribute vido projector –and equipment

volunteer schedule – see part 0

this is an on going tasks

in baghdad cultural center ( first of all volunteers , rooms internet connection equipment screen microphone webcams loudspeakers laptops )

for tele exchanges good to have 2 microphone one to international and one to the room ( amplified)

one laptop per language -webcam microphone - interpreter of cable to interpreter booth

2 laptops per language + webcam microphone –interpreter or cable to interpreter booth

role of extension team

for case A/2 and B/3 isf extension team can syngerize the equipment with some Iraqi organization and schedule and operate some rooms during isf -the number of rooms is to be assessed based on the dynamics around extension program (see part 6) – take into account the fact that many contacts may be scheduled in parallel depending on the days ( evening will be solicited)

for case C2/4B maybe self organization with training support from isf extension team but no logistical support other than giving a good connection in all possible rooms

for case C1/4A maybe isf extension tema can take the role of camera person and train some organization that want to learn and train the linking persons assigned by organizations

6/September - schedule the extended program

6-1) - this task is on going

is about checking when the various activities can take place this is made progressively between the counter parts on a basis first ready ( as considered in the extension team) first served

extension team should have full program control on te rooms for tele intervention and tele exchanges

6-2) extension team makes a regular review with the program team in Baghdad for the other rooms

7/September –operate isf extended - size of extension

training and anticipation factor

it is important to note that the earlier people are put in contact together and the better they prepare with a first test the easier , the better the linking persons and hosting personans and tele participants are trained through practical experience and the easier it will be during ISF with a lighter workload

Of course the extension "size" , that is the number of tele interventions, tele exchange activities, and tele participations sessions hosted in baghdad will be monitored up to what is realistically manageable in Baghdad, given the size of the event , the number of rooms available , internet connection quality and the equipment and number of volunteers in the team

it is Baghdad ISF extension team  that will decide collectively with isf committee up to where extension can be dimensioned

operate support inter-communication during isf

isf extension team volunteer are in ISF and on line supporting the various intercommunicatin activities

see schedule in section 0

on line support can be translation on line or stimulation of participation and keeping a permanent presence in isf extension team mail etc..

8/ October - documentation with chat logs and recorded streaming video

the activities enlarged can have a video memory

possibility to have skype audio recording ?

chat log of associated chat room can be also part of the memory

refer to previous experiences of documentation of enlarged activities
