Dear Friends

We invite you to attend and seek your support for the first Iraqi Social Forum [ISF] to be held on September 26-28, 2013 in Baghdad, Iraq .

Active international solidarity is the need of this hour!

The Iraqi Social Forum is an extraordinary event that opposes decades of immense violence and destruction. It proposes a time and a space managed by civil society and social movements to build another Iraq based on peace, respect for human rights and social justice, in partnership with all those who adhere to the principles and charter of the WSF, adopted in Porto Alegre in 2001.

The loss of the lives of over one million people, the destruction of infrastructure, fatal and debilitating effects of depleted uranium and chemical weaponry used by the occupation forces cannot be forgotten, neither by the Iraqi people nor by the international movements who have been mobilizing against the war and the occupation.

The withdrawal of the US and occupation troops has opened the way to complete the struggle of Iraqi people for democracy and social justice, but the current Iraqi leadership has been built on sectarian lines, and does not guarantee the rights and safety of its citizens. Hundreds of thousands have protested in the streets of Iraqi cities since 2011 against corruption, for social services, for freedom of expression, and for an independent judiciary system. More than 2600 Iraqis have been killed since April 2013 in terrorist attacks, most of them in Baghdad. Still Iraqi civil society acts for change.

Now it is the time to all work together to build a way for hope to emerge, and to contribute to the desires of the Iraqi people for a civil, democratic society and State, based on respect for different cultures. The country is experiencing a political, economic and social crisis: this is the time to build partnerships, foster dialogue and cooperation, to find solutions to outstanding problems. Now is the time to end violence and terrorism for which the people of Iraq have paid, and continue to pay, a heavy price. These are the challenges of the Iraqi Social Forum, we believe that these are our shared challenges!

The WSF process is now well anchored in the region. Since 2008 we have witnessed successful regional social fora in the Maghreb/Mashreq, a World Education Forum in Palestine and the World Social Forum in Tunis earlier this year. These collective experiences provide a fertile ground for the Iraqi civil society to build the first Iraqi Social Forum as an open space for exchange of experiences and ideas, and to build a movement against neo-liberalism, for social change.

Iraqi civil society organizations will raise the following issues within the ISF: building a civic and democratic country; challenges faced by minorities; equitable distribution of wealth and social justice; trade unions, and peasant associations; rights of women, youth, children; economic, social, and cultural issues; nonviolence as a way of social, cultural, and economic change in Iraq; international solidarity campaigns with the Iraqi civil society. Sports Against Violence and Artistic activities will be associated to the forum.

The world witnessed huge demonstrations, unparalleled in the history, against the US invasion of Iraq. This international solidarity is now once again being convened in support of the Iraqi Social Forum. International participation in the Baghdad ISF forum event will be limited in numbers for security reasons, but the ISF preparatory committee is looking for a venue in Baghdad safe enough for some internationals to attend. We strongly encourage your remote participation from your own country, via the “Extended Iraqi Social Forum”.

Please consider the following ways of joining us:

1) Be with us in Baghdad. Be aware that this entails a certain degree of risk,

and that we will confirm international participation only in early September depending on the situation. Meanwhile, you need to register before the 5th of August in order to receive a letter of invitation and apply for the visa at the Iraqi Embassy in your country.

2) Extended ISF. Organize a solidarity event in your own country,

before or during the ISF, or a live exchange via Internet with a group in Baghdad , or a tele-participation in an activity held in Baghdad . A group of Iraqi volunteers is being trained to help connect with counterparts who want to exchange via Internet. Define with the local organizers which ISF activities will be enlarged for Internet participation, and build the corresponding connections.

Por la paz, los derechos humanos y la justicia social

Estimados amigos:

Nos gustaría contar con vuestra asistencia y vuestro apoyo en el primer Foro Social Iraquí (FSI), que tendrá lugar los días 26, 27 y 28 de septiembre de 2013 en Bagdad (Irak). 

¡En este momento es necesaria una solidaridad internacional activa!

El Foro Social Iraquí es un extraordinario acontecimiento en contra de décadas de inmensa violencia y destrucción. Este propone un tiempo y un espacio gestionados por la sociedad civil y los movimientos sociales a fin de construir un nuevo Irak basado en los principios de paz, respeto por los derechos humanos y justicia social, en colaboración con todos los que se adhieren a la Carta de Principios del FSM, adoptada en Porto Alegre en 2001.  

El más de un millón de personas que perdieron la vida, la destrucción de la infraestructura, los efectos devastadores y debilitantes del uranio empobrecido y las armas químicas utilizadas por las fuerzas de ocupación no pueden caer en el olvido, ni del pueblo iraquí ni de los movimientos internacionales que se han movilizado en contra de la guerra y la ocupación. 

La retirada de las tropas estadounidenses ha abierto el camino para completar la lucha del pueblo iraquí por la democracia y la justicia social, sin embargo, el actual Gobierno iraquí se ha constituido sobre criterios sectarios y no garantiza ni los derechos ni la seguridad de sus ciudadanos. Desde 2011, cientos de miles de personas han salido a las calles de las ciudades iraquíes para protestar contra la corrupción, los servicios sociales, la libertad de expresión y por un sistema judicial independiente. Más de 2.600 iraquíes han fallecido desde abril de 2013 víctimas de ataques terroristas, la mayoría de ellos en Bagdad. La sociedad civil iraquí sigue actuando en favor del cambio.

Es el momento de que unamos nuestras fuerzas para construir el camino hacia la esperanza y contribuir a cumplir los deseos del pueblo iraquí por una sociedad y un estado civiles y democráticos, basados en el respeto por las distintas culturas.  El país está atravesando una crisis política, económica y social: es hora de establecer alianzas y fomentar el diálogo y la cooperación a fin de encontrar soluciones a los problemas pendientes; de acabar con la violencia y el terrorismo por los que el pueblo iraquí ha pagado y sigue pagando en la actualidad un precio muy alto. Estos son los desafíos del Foro Social Iraquí y los desafíos comunes que tenemos por delante.

El proceso del FSM está bien arraigado en la región.  Desde  2008,  hemos presenciado el exitoso foro social regional en el Magreb/Mashreq, el Foro Mundial de la Educación en Palestina y el Foro Social Mundial en Túnez a comienzos de año. Estas experiencias colectivas  abonan el terreno para que la sociedad civil iraquí cree el primer Foro Social Iraquí como un espacio abierto para el intercambio de experiencias e ideas, así como un movimiento en contra del neoliberalismo y en favor del cambio social. 

Organizaciones de la sociedad civil iraquí pondrán los siguientes asuntos sobre la mesa del FSI: construir un país cívico y democrático; desafíos que afrontan las minorías; reparto equitativo de la riqueza y la justicia social; sindicatos y asociaciones de agricultores; derechos de la mujer, los jóvenes y los niños; cuestiones económicas, sociales y culturales; la no violencia como forma de cambio social, cultural y económico en Irak; campañas de solidaridad internacional con la sociedad civil iraquí. Deportes en contra de la violencia y actividades artísticas estarán vinculados al foro.

El mundo entero ha sido testigo de enormes manifestaciones sin parangón en la historia en contra de la invasión de Irak por Estados Unidos. Una vez más se hace un llamamiento a la solidaridad internacional en apoyo al Foro Social Iraquí. Por motivos de seguridad, la participación internacional en el FSI en Bagdad será limitada. No obstante, el comité preparatorio del FSI está buscando un lugar en Bagdad lo suficientemente seguro para que asistan algunos representantes internacionales. Os animamos encarecidamente a que participéis desde vuestras casas a través del «Foro Social Iraquí ampliado».

Podéis uniros a nosotros de las siguientes formas:

1) Acompañarnos presencialmente en Bagdad. Tened en cuenta que ello implica un cierto riesgo,

y que confirmaremos la participación internacional a principios de septiembre, dependiendo de la situación. Mientras tanto, es necesario registrarse antes del 5 de agosto para recibir la carta de invitación y solicitar el visado en la embajada iraquí en vuestro país.

2) FSI ampliado. Organizar un evento solidario en vuestro país

antes o durante el FSI, o un intercambio en directo a través de Internet con un grupo en Bagdad, o una participación a distancia en una actividad celebrada en Bagdad. Un grupo de iraquíes voluntarios está recibiendo formación para facilitar el contacto con homólogos que deseen intercambiar experiencias a través de Internet. Conviene determinar con los organizadores locales qué actividades del FSI se ampliarán para la participación a través de Internet y establecer las conexiones pertinentes.

Un autre Irak est possible !

nous vous invitons à assister et sollicitons votre soutien pour le premier Forum Social Irakien qui aura lieu les 26, 27 et 28 septembre 2013 à Bagdad en Irak.

Nous avons actuellement besoin d’une solidarité internationale active !

Le Forum Social Irakien est un événement extraordinaire qui s’oppose à des décennies d’immense violence et destruction. Il propose un temps et un espace géré par la société civile et des mouvements sociaux afin de construire un nouvel Irak basé sur la paix, le respect des droits humains et la justice sociale, en partenariat avec tous ceux adhérant aux principes et à la charte du FSM, adoptée à Porto Alegre en 2001.

Les plus d’un million de personnes qui ont perdu la vie, la destruction d’infrastructures, les effets dévastateurs et débilitants de l’uranium appauvri et les armes chimiques utilisées par les forces d’occupation ne peuvent pas être oubliés, ni par le peuple irakien ni par les mouvements internationaux qui se sont mobilisés contre la guerre et l’occupation.

Le retrait des troupes d’occupation américaines a ouvert la voie pour poursuivre le combat du peuple irakien pour la démocratie et la justice sociale, mais le gouvernement irakien actuel est construit sur des bases sectaires et ne garantit pas les droits et la sécurité de ses citoyens. Des centaines de milliers de personnes ont manifesté dans les rues des villes irakiennes depuis 2001 contre la corruption et pour des services sociaux, la liberté d’expression et un système judiciaire indépendant. Plus de 2600 Irakiens ont été tués depuis avril 2013 lors d’attaques terroristes, la plupart d’entre eux à Bagdad. La société civile irakienne continue d’agir pour le changement.

Il est désormais temps d’unir nos forces pour paver le chemin de l’espoir et contribuer à répondre aux attentes du peuple irakien pour une société et un État civil et démocratique, basés sur le respect des différentes cultures. Le pays traverse une crise politique, économique et sociale : il est temps d’établir des partenariats, d’encourager le dialogue et la coopération, de trouver des solutions aux problèmes actuels et de mettre fin à la violence et au terrorisme pour lesquels le peuple irakien a payé et continue de payer un lourd prix. Ce sont les défis du Forum Social Irakien et nos défis communs !

Le processus du FSM est désormais bien ancré dans la région. Depuis 2008 nous avons pu apprécier le succès de forums sociaux régionaux au Maghreb/Machrek, le Forum Mondial sur l’Éducation en Palestine et le Forum Social Mondial à Tunis plus tôt cette année. Ces expériences collectives constituent un terreau fertile pour que la société civile irakienne fasse du premier Forum Social Irakien un espace ouvert aux échanges d’expériences et d’idées et inspire un mouvement contre le néolibéralisme et pour le changement social.

Les organisations de la société civile irakienne soulèveront les questions suivantes lors du FSI : construire un pays civique et démocratique, les défis auxquels sont confrontées les minorités, la répartition équitable des richesses et de la justice sociale, les syndicats et associations paysannes, les droits des femmes, des jeunes et des enfants, les questions économiques, sociales et culturelles, la non-violence comme forme de changement social, culturel et économique en Irak et les campagnes de solidarité internationale avec la société civile irakienne. Du sport contre la violence et des activités artistiques seront associées au forum.

Le monde a été témoin d’importantes manifestations sans précédent contre l’invasion américaine en Irak. Cette solidarité internationale est de nouveau appelée à soutenir le Forum Social Irakien. La participation internationale au FSI de Bagdad sera limitée en nombre pour des raisons de sécurité. Le comité préparatoire de FSI recherche cependant un lieu à Bagdad assez sûr pour accueillir des internationaux. Nous vous encourageons fortement à participer à distance depuis votre pays, à travers le « Forum Social Irakien élargi ».

Vous pouvez vous joindre à nous des manières suivantes :

1) Venir en présentiel à Bagdad. Soyez conscients que cela comporte un certain degré de risque,

et que nous ne confirmerons la participation internationale que début septembre, selon la situation. Vous devez cependant vous inscrire avant le 5 août afin de recevoir une lettre d’invitation et de postuler pour un visa à l’ambassade irakienne de votre pays.

2) FSI élargi. Organisez un événement de solidarité dans votre pays,

Une équipe de volontaires irakiens est formée afin d’aider les homologues qui désirent communiquer par Internet à se connecter, de définir avec les organisateurs locaux quelles activités du FSI seront adaptées pour la participation Internet et de mettre en place les connexions correspondantes.

Un altro Iraq è possibile

Con la pace, i diritti umani, la giustizia sociale!

Vi invitiamo a partecipare e chiediamo il vostro sostegno al primo Forum sociale Iracheno (ISF) che si terrà dal 26 al 28 settembre 2013 a Bagdad, Iraq. 

In questo momento è necessaria una solidarietà internazionale attiva!

L' Iraqi Social Forum è un evento straordinario, contro decenni di immensa violenza e distruzione. Propone infatti un tempo e uno spazio gestiti dalla società civile e dai movimenti sociali per costruire un altro Iraq di pace, rispetto dei diritti umani e giustizia sociale, insieme a tutti coloro che che aderiscono ai principi e alla carta di Porto Alegre, condivisi nel Forum sociale mondiale del 2001.  

La perdita di oltre un milione di vite umane, la distruzione delle infrastrutture, gli effetti letali e dannosi dell'uranio impoverito e delle armi chimiche usate dalle forze di occupazione non  possono essere dimenticati né dal popolo iracheno né dai movimenti internazionali che si sono mobilitati contro la guerra e l'occupazione. 

Il ritiro degli Stati Uniti e delle truppe di occupazione hanno aperto la strada per portare a termine la lotta del popolo iracheno per la democrazia e la giustizia sociale, ma l'attuale leadership irachena è stata costruita su basi settarie e non garantisce diritti e sicurezza ai propri cittadini/e. Centinaia di migliaia hanno protestato nelle strade delle città irachene dal 2011 contro la corruzione, per servizi sociali, per la libertà di espressione e per un sistema giudiziario indipendente . Più di 2600 iracheni sono stati uccisi dall'aprile 2013  in seguito ad attacchi terroristi, per la maggior parte a Bagdad.  E tuttavia  in Iraq la società civile continua ad agire per il cambiamento.

Adesso è tempo di costruire tutti/e insieme il cammino per una nuova speranza e di contribuire ai desideri del popolo iracheno per una società civile, democratica e per uno Stato basato sul rispetto delle differenti culture.  Il paese è immerso in una crisi politica, economica, sociale: adesso è ora di costruire partenariati, dare impulso al dialogo e alla cooperazione per trovare soluzioni ai problemi attuali. Adesso è ora di mettere fine alla violenza e al terrorismo per i quali il popolo iracheno ha pagato e continua a pagare un prezzo altissimo. Queste sono le sfide del Forum sociale iracheno, e crediamo fermamente che queste siano le sfide comuni di tutti/e noi!

Il processo del Forum sociale mondiale è oggi ben radicato nella regione.  Dal  2008 abbiamo assistito al successo di forum sociali regionali nel Maghreb/Mashreq, del  Forum mondiale dell'Educazione in Palestina e all'inizio di quest'anno del Forum sociale mondiale a Tunisi. Queste esperienze collettive forniscono alla società civile irachena un terreno fertile per costruire il primo forum sociale iracheno come uno spazio aperto allo scambio di esperienze e idee e per costruire un movimento contro il neoliberismo, per il cambiamento sociale. 

La società civile irachena porta dentro l'ISF i temi seguenti: costruire un paese civile e democratico; le sfide a cui devono far fronte le minoranze; un'equa distribuzione delle ricchezze e giustizia sociale; i sindacati e le associazioni contadine; i diritti delle donne, dei giovani, dei bambini; temi economici, sociali e culturali; la nonviolenza come una strada per il cambiamento economico, sociale, culturale in Iraq; campagne di solidarietà internazionale con la società civile irachena. Sport contro la violenza e attività artistiche si svolgeranno nel quadro del forum.

Il mondo ha assistito a enormi manifestazioni, senza precedenti nella storia, contro l'invasione  Usa dell' Iraq. Questa solidarietà internazionale è chiamata oggi ancora una volta a sostegno dell'Iraqi social forum. La partecipazione internazionale all'evento di Bagdad del Forum sociale iracheno sarà quantitativamente limitata per ragioni di sicurezza, ma il comitato preparatorio dell'ISF sta cercando un luogo in Bagdad  sicuro abbastanza da consentire la partecipazione di alcuni internazionali. Ma vi sollecitiamo caldamente a partecipare da lontano, dal vostro paese, attraverso il “Forum sociale Iracheno esteso”.

Vi preghiamo quindi di prendere in considerazione queste possibilità di essere insieme:

1) Stare con noi a Baghdad. Sappiate che questo comporta un certo grado di rischio

e che noi confermeremo la partecipazione internazionale solo all'inizio di settembre, in base alla situazione. Nel frattempo dovete registrarvi entro il 5 di agosto per ricevere una lettera di invito e fare domanda per il visto alla Ambasciata irachena del vostro paese.

2) ISF esteso. Organizzare una iniziativa di solidarietà nel vostro paese

prima o durante l'ISF: o un telescambio via internet con un gruppo a Bagdad, o una telepartecipazione in una attività che si svolge a Bagdad. Un gruppo di volontari iracheni viene formato per aiutare l'interlocuzione con coloro che vogliono telescambiare.

عراق آخر ممكن!

عراق السلام وحقوق الإنسان والعدالة الاجتماعية!

يسرنا دعوتكم للحضور والمشاركة في دعم المنتدى الإجتماعي العراقي الأول والذي سيعقد للفترة من 26-28 سبتمبر، 2013 في بغداد، العراق.

التضامن الدولي الفعال هو ما نبحث عنه الوقت الحالي!

المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي هو حدث إستثنائي يقف ضد عقود من العنف الهائل والدمار. ويقدم وقت ومساحة تدار من قبل المجتمع المدني والحركات الاجتماعية العراقية لبناء عراق آخر أساسه السلام، وإحترام حقوق الإنسان والعدالة الاجتماعية، في شراكة مع جميع أولئك الذين يؤمنون بمبادئ وميثاق المنتدى الاجتماعي العالمي، التي تم إعتمادها في بورتو أليغري في عام 2001.

إن فقدان حياة أكثر من مليون شخص، وتدمير البنية التحتية، والآثار القاتلة والمدمرة لليورانيوم المنضب والأسلحة الكيميائية التي تم إستخدامها من قبل قوات الاحتلال الامريكي، أفعال لا يمكن أن ينساها لا الشعب العراقي ولا الحركات الدولية التي إحتشدت ووقفت ضد الحرب والاحتلال.

إن انسحاب قوات الاحتلال الأمريكية فتح الطريق أمام الشعب العراقي لإستكمال النضال من أجل الديمقراطية والعدالة الاجتماعية، ولكن القيادة العراقية الحالية بنيت على أسس طائفية، لا تضمن حقوق وسلامة مواطنيها. فإحتج مئات الآلاف من العراقيين في شوارع المدن العراقية منذ عام 2011 للوقوف ضد الفساد، والمطالبة بالخدمات الاجتماعية، ومن أجل حرية التعبير، ونظام قضائي مستقل. فقتل أكثر من 2600 مواطن عراقي منذ أبريل 2013 في هجمات إرهابية، معظمهم في بغداد. ولا يزال المجتمع المدني العراقي يعمل من أجل التغيير.

جاء الوقت المناسب للجميع للعمل معاً لبناء طريق الأمل، والمساهمة في تحقيق آمال الشعب العراقي من أجل مجتمع ديمقراطي مدني ودولة قائمة على أساس احترام الثقافات المختلفة. فالبلاد تعاني من أزمة سياسية واقتصادية واجتماعية: وهذا هو الوقت المناسب لبناء الشراكات، وتعزيز الحوار والتعاون، لإيجاد حلول للمشاكل العالقة. الآن هو الوقت المناسب لوضع حد للعنف والإرهاب الذي دفع ثمنه شعب العراق ولازال يدفع ثمنه باهظاً جداً. هذه هي تحديات واهداف المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي، ونحن نؤمن بأنها تحديات وأهداف مشتركة لدينا!

إن نهج المنتدى الاجتماعي العالمي في المنطقة راسخ الجذور في الوقت الحاضر. فمنذ عام 2008 شهدنا المنتديات الاجتماعية الإقليمية الناجحة في بلاد المغرب / المشرق، والمنتدى التعليمي العالمي في فلسطين والمنتدى الاجتماعي العالمي في تونس في وقت سابق من هذا العام. هذه التجارب الجماعية توفر أرضية خصبة للمجتمع المدني العراقي لبناء أول منتدى إجتماعي عراقي كمساحة مفتوحة لتبادل الخبرات والأفكار، وبناء حركة مناهضة لليبرالية الجديدة، من أجل التغيير الاجتماعي.

ستطرح منظمات المجتمع المدني العراقي القضايا التالية ضمن أعمال المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي: بناء الدولة المدنية الديمقراطية؛ الأقليات في العراق والمشكلات القومية؛ التوزيع العادل للثروات وتحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية؛ الاتحادات العمالية والنقابات المهنية والجمعيات الفلاحية؛ واقع المرأة والشباب والطفولة؛ الواقع الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والثقافي؛ اللاعنف كوسيلة للتغيير الاجتماعي والسياسي في العراق؛ الحملات التضامنية الدولية مع المجتمع المدني العراقي. وسوف تكون مرتبطة بفعاليات رياضية ضد العنف بالإضافة الى أنشطة فنية للمنتدى.

شهد العالم مظاهرات ضخمة، لا مثيل لها في التاريخ ضد الغزو الأمريكي للعراق. والآن مرة أخرى يحتشد التضامن الدولي لدعم المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي. فالمشاركة الدولية في أعمال المنتدى الاجتماعي في بغداد ستكون محدودة العدد لأسباب أمنية، ولكن اللجنة التحضيرية للمنتدى تبحث عن مكان آمن بما فيه الكفاية في بغداد ليتسنى لبعض الدوليين الحضور. ونحن نشجع بقوة مشاركتكم في المنتدى عن بعد من بلادكم، عبر برنامج "المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي الموسع".

نرجو الإطلاع على الوسائل التالية للانضمام لنا:

1) كن معنا في بغداد. كن على علم بأن ذلك سينطوي على درجة معينة من الخطر،

وإننا سنقوم بتأكيد المشاركة الدولية فقط في أوائل سبتمبر تبعاً للأوضاع الامنية. لكن في الوقت نفسه، أنت تحتاج إلى التسجيل قبل 5 أغسطس من أجل الحصول على رسالة دعوة للتقدم بطلب للحصول على التأشيرة من السفارة العراقية في بلدك.

2) المنتدى الإجتماعي الموسع. تنظيم فعالية تضامنية في بلدك،

قبل أو أثناء إنعقاد المنتدى الاجتماعي العراقي أو تبادل حي عبر الإنترنت مع مجموعة في بغداد، أو المشاركة عن بعد في النشاطات التي تقام في بغداد. ويجري تدريب مجموعة من المتطوعين العراقيين للمساعدة في التواصل مع نظرائهم الذين يرغبون في التبادل والتواصل مع فعاليات المنتدى عبر الانترنت. وتعيين مع المنظمين المحليين أي من انشطة المنتدى سيتم توسيعها للمشاركة بها عبر الانترنت لبناء الصلات المتماثلة.
