DOCUMENTATION

INVITATION TO AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL TRAINING ON THE ABOLITION OF THE DEATH PENALTY IN NIGERIA

Smile Africa International Youth Development Initiatives with support from Amnesty International is holding a one-day Advocacy Training on the Abolition of the Death Penalty in Nigeria on Thursday December 7th, 2017 at Youth House: Plot 120 Akpakpava Street , Benin City, Edo State Nigeria

The training aims at enlightening human rights activists and media personnel on international human rights law and standards on the death penalty. The training would also motivate and increase the capacity of human rights activists in their advocacy on the abolition of the death penalty in Nigeria. It would also equip them on the necessary skills needed in the work against the death penalty.

Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception regardless of the nature or circumstances of the crime; guilt, innocence or other characteristics of the individual; or the method used by the state to carry out the execution. The death penalty violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.

Please confirm participation by sending Name, Organization, Phone and Email to us on smilesafrica@gmail.com or 08078765846, 08038758819.

We sincerely hope that you would be able to join us at the advocacy training and we look forward to receiving you. Please feel free to contact Purpose O. Iserhienrhien, on smilesafrica@gmail.com or 080787686, should you require any further information about the event.
