About Peace through Music and Culture Festival
Peace through Music and Culture Festival an a one day annual event organized by African Youth Volunteers for Peace (AYVP) aiming to bring people together from across the world to share their experience, connect and celebrate peace that they have through culture and music.

Since the beginning of the world human being has been using different kind of music as a sign of celebrating different success they have achieved, in other hand music has been used as a symbol of unity, love, respect and tolerance among the member of the community, it has been a tool of communication, healing and conveying feelings and messages to the community during sadness and happiness moment.

When you play music, you can’t offend anyone or hurt people, but you can make people feel your passion. Music crosses all bridges, borders, and time zones. Music transcends all ideologies, politics, religions, languages, cultures, and wealth. Music is oblivious to race, gender, age, and appearance. Music connects us all and reminds us that we are human.

The language of music is universal. Although each culture produces its own specific musical forms, the appeal that these forms hold is not limited to any particular time or place.

“There are no languages required in the musical world. That is the power of music that is the power of the heart. Through this promotion of arts we can better understand the culture and civilizations of other people. In this era of instability and intolerance we need to promote better understanding through the power of music.” - UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon

The celebration of Peace through Music and Culture Festival is organized by African Youth Volunteers for Peace (AYVP) an Initiative of World Youth Volunteers for Peace (WYVP), Africa Initiative for the Needy Uganda (AINU) and Rockies Troupe and will take place on September 09, 2016 at Hotel Triangle in Kampala, Uganda. The concert will feature Rockies Troupe as the main performer and Guest artists and it is open to people of all faith, culture and nationalities.

Aims and Objectives
The main aim of Peace through Music and Culture Festival is to bring the sense of tolerance and togetherness among members of the community through the art of music and culture where different musician and cultural musician will attend, perform and use their talents to convey peace uplifting messages to the audience as a way to remind them that we are all human, supposed to love each other and promote peace.

Why Participate?

The human mind naturally imbibes certain basic features such as, kama, krodha, lobha, moha, mada and matsarya, meaning desire, anger, greed, affinity, zeal to conquer, and jealousy. These mental attitudes, within limits, are essential components of human growth and development. But an excess or a disproportionate mix of these qualities leads to acts causing disturbance and the shattering of peace at any level of human life and society.

According to the World Peace Index 2015, the world has become slightly less peaceful between 2008 and 2015, the decrease in peacefulness was driven by the deterioration of internal peacefulness which has resulted to the dissatisfaction of people to the current status of their social, economic and political life. This has led to disagreements and outbreak of series of conflicts around the world which has led to the loss of many lives.

By seeing all these African Youth Volunteers for Peace (AYVP) came up with the idea which will transforming people’s minds, attitudes and beliefs toward their current situation through using the art of culture and music. We believe that music is a powerful tool of reaching, building, understanding and connecting people.
