The Croatian model and breaking the Minsk II agreement
last modified March 18, 2015 by Tord
The governing Poroschenko party is often presented as a peace party. Yuriy Lutsenko as factional leader in the rada has now together with an overwhelming majority rejected the Minsk II agreement.
According to Jamestown foundation he wrote in the autumn:
Jamestown comments: Increasingly, the lessons of the Balkan wars of the mid-1990s are starting to occupy the thinking of senior officials in Kyiv, particularly in how Ukraine can use the recent series of setbacks in the east as a starting point to win back lost territory.
Jamestown strongly questions the use of Croatia as a model:
By the beginning of “Operation Storm” Croatia had been in a state of war for four years. During this time, the country passed a difficult journey from the first defeats it experienced in its battles with the Yugoslav National Army, to the point several years later when it had finally created strong, and well-trained armed forces.
Following the US source which is working closely with US security interests Ukraine seems dangerously loosing realism in its assessment of how to solve the Ukrainian conflict. In spite of the lack of Ukrainian realism US continue to push for war.
In a report on the decision in the rada Lutsenko was quoted:

In a TV appearance Lutsenko predicted a full scale war soon in line with the rejection of the Minsk II agreement he advocated in the rada and in line with what was decided.
