WHAT A meeting between US movement folks (with focus on anti-poverty movement - PPEHRC, Assembly, PWG, etc.) and WSF organizers.

We will share information and begin to make plans for getting poor people and other marginalized folks from the US to the forum. We will also talk about how to take advantage of this historic first WSF in the North to highlight the conditions and our struggles here in the US and North America, and to build continental and hemispheric strategic dialogue and unity between our movements.


Tentative Agenda

Please feel free to offer changes, additions, subtractions, changes of order, etc. Also, if someone could facilitate and take notes, that would be great.


1) Montreal folks share plans for WSF - program, registration mobilization, logistics, expanded, etc.

2) US folks - already existing plans for WSF and other current struggles/ plans

3) Significance of this forum and our goals as movements, especially as the anti-poverty movement

4) Strategic/ timely connections: Connection with DNC and RNC; the Rust Belt; Climate, water; Indigenous; Labor; Immigration/ militarization/ War on Terror

5) How do we strategically use the WSF to highlight our conditions and our struggles in the US and to build our movements back home; to build processes for strategic dialogue and movement building on the hemispheric, continental and global levels; and to build/ rebuild national, multi-sector organizing US efforts, i.e. the USSF, Assembly, political independence efforts, etc.

6) Who can we get there, why and how? - Caravans? Fundraising? Passports?

7) Program thoughts - What struggles and issues to highlight; US grassroots and poor in conferences/ convergence events, proposing workshops, tent?;

8) Next steps: Larger meeting with others from USSF, other movements, organizations etc.?; ad hoc group for anti-poverty movement
