APPEAL TO PARTICIPATE IN AND SUPPORT THE WORLD EDUCATION FORUM IN PALESTINE

Following the discussions at the last two meetings of the International Council of the World Social Forum it was resolved to hold the World Education Forum in Palestine in October 2010.

The open space concept of the World Social Forum provides a platform to movements around the World, big or small, to help transform the World that is today dominated by neo-liberalism, under the overarching banner ‘Another World is Possible’. It is in this perspective that this thematic Forum on education allied to the World Social Forum aims to reinforce the concept of education as a fundamental human right and a key for sustainable development. The idea of the WEF in Palestine has emerged to present the Palestinian educational experience to the world, as also to bring the world educational experience to Palestine, not only as a gesture of solidarity but also in celebration of the power of education in bridging cultures and practices, as an agency that can free people from their relative isolations.

We urge all organizations and individuals, who adhere to the charter of the WSF, concerned with educational issues or in support of the Palestinian people, to join this appeal, by contributing financially, supporting and participating in the 2010 World Education Forum in Palestine.
