  • - WHAT IS IT ?  WHAT IS IT ABOUT ?

     A dialogue roundtable over the internet.

1)  To table our wins and losses from 2010, as lessons towards strengthening a unified strategy towards World Water Day 2012.

2)  To link to other activities at WSF2011 that see the gatherings in Marseilles in March 2012 as significant, for the purposes of sharing information, aspirations and experiences.


  • HOW IT WILL PROCEED?

  An opportunity for Asian activists attending Dakar to bring friends, or by themselves, to discuss past experiences that are a priority for 2011.  For example, the impact of Korean government organisation K-Water's control over electricity and water from the Angat Dam in the Philippines is raising local concerns that need to be understood and discussed.  Likewise in India, China,Thailand and other localities in the region.

Initial planning is not to make a large, complex activity with other Dakar events, but there are obvious synergies with activities being organised by France Libertes-Fondation Danielle Miterrand and FAME, as well as various environmental groups.

 Currently an A3 event (to enlarge FR55 activity, or similar).  There are Asian activists who will be in Dakar, and who are considering different enlargement options.
