  • May 17-19 global action
Almost  all of the remaining 166 prisoners at Guantánamo Bay have been on  hunger strike since around 6 February. Held for over 11 years, more than  half of the prisoners have been cleared for release and only 6 face  charges. Of those 6, in the case of at least two prisoners, the evidence  has clearly been obtained through torture, including waterboarding.  They face no prospect of a fair trial. Ignored by the mainstream media,  failed by the Red Cross who left Guantánamo Bay one day before the  military used plastic bullets and force  against starving, weakened men, and the governments of the states they  are from, we call on all citizens of the world to take a stand for  justice and join us, as the hunger strike enters its 100th day on 17  May, in a global weekend of action. http://www.facebook.com/events/442435245849692/

  • 31 May - Germany: Blockupy Frankfurt! 31 Mayo y Junio 1,  2013
informations: www.blockupy-frankfurt.org

As you might already know, the action day on 31st May does not only consist of blocking the ECB in the morning, but of other actions in the afternoon. One main actions, on which for example ...umsGanze! and a network of regional antiracist organisations are focussed on, is the action at the Frankfurt Airport in the afternoon. Here, we want to connect the subjects of crisis, racism and the deportation regime of the EU with ecological and workers' struggles symbolically and practically. The call of action for that arrived yesterday
http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/1135/blockupy-deportation-airport/ and since many of you who took part in the internationals' meeting last week showed interest, we decided to do a translation of the
call as quick as possible to spread (below and will be online later this day).
Now you can stay tuned online. Furhter information in English about this action will be spread on the camp at the action days and we will have at  least one preparation meeting in which  nternationals are more than welcome! See you in Frankfurt and hopefully not only at the ECB, but at the airport, too!

  • 17-18 June - Actions, demos themed around fracking as well as G8 in Enniskillen, Ireland (nearest town to G8).
As  part of the upcoming G8 Summit that will take place in Northern Ireland  mid-June, my regional colleagues are preparing significant actions  against fracking, for which they will need your easy contribution. The  main prop will be a giant effigy of a frack pad, which will be carried  on people’s shoulders at the front of the general protest march.  It  will be accompanied by a long trail of blue cloth, representing a  polluted river. The organisers would like this cloth to be covered in  images of pollution (dead fish, skull and crossbones etc) but also the  names of communities and waterways from around the world that are living  in the shadow of fracking.
Therefore,  we were wondering whether you could email my colleague Niall Bakewell  <niall.bakewell@foe.co.uk> with the names of your communities, the  names of your affected waterways, and any other messages and images  that you would like to include.
You can find more information about this action on the Facebook event page here: http://on.fb.me/11Q6D7b.
Deadline to send your contribution: 13th of June.
There   is no G8 campsite or convergence centre in Ireland but demos/actions   are organised . There are local campsites, hostels and possibly some   possibility to stay in homes (but we're working on this...).

  • 6 - 7  July 2013
From Global Square
Global March to Dignity - Transnational Solidarity Weekend
Turkey, Greece, Brazil, Bulgaria, Egypt…. once more the fire of the global revolution is sweeping out the entire planet. We are taking streets, squares, parks in millions and revolting against the police brutality, torture, environmental destruction, corruption, the looting of the commons by the 1%.
Once more we are throwing away the unbearable weight of naked injustice that we have been forced to carry on our shoulders for thousands of years.
Once more, sons and daughters of ancient civilisations are showing how to walk towards the light without fear and anxiety. A new civilisation is emerging out of joy, fun, fight, pain and blood.
With this call we invite all the comrades to go out this weekend, 6-7 July 2013, with out borders and reclaim the streets, squares, parks and all that belongs the humanity. Let us rise doesn’t matter wherever we are; in Egypt, Brazil, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, in the cities, towns, and villages of the World. Let us rise up together, not only for standing in solidarity with each other, but also to feel the fact that we are fighting our own struggle with the others all over the world.
We might have differences, in our appearance, thinking, cultures, choices, etc. but we are deeply connected and we decided to march towards Dignity as a whole and no matter what it takes to get there.
Let us stand up and walk together!

Third European Forum against unnecessary imposed mega projects which are forced upon us. The forum will be held in Stuttgart, Germany. This forum has been organised explicitly by the movement for the movement. The first forum took place in Italy in 2011. The second forum was held in Notre-Dame-de-Landes in France last year. Each forum provided a meeting place and opportunity for Europeans to meet, converse and exchange ideas. This enabled all participants to demonstrate and protest as one voice and one group against unnecessary imposed mega projects. The organizers of the Stuttgart forum have pledged to continue this tradition. Here is a short preview of some of the topics which will be on the agenda.
- Exchange of ideas, international support and the co-ordination of protest groups against useless projects in Europe and elsewhere.
-Protection and preservation of vitally important areas to nature and society.
-Discussions concerning the reason, background and social aspects of such projects, the  consequences and alternative possibilities
Participants have the opportunity to give talks and presentations about their project. Furthermore, through contact with other groups a wealth of ideas can be taken home to work on. The spirit of working together, solidarity within the group and maintaining contact has top priority and is in our mutual interest.
Translators will be present during the forum. If anyone in your group speaks a foreign language and would like to help us, please do not hesitate to contact us. Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone you know who may be interested in attending the forum.

Call Out Declaration for the G-20 in St. Petersburg
The crisis of the neoliberal economic order that began late in 2007 has not been overcome in the years since. It has taken on the form of a shifting catastrophe migrating from one part of the world to another. Controlling the movement of capital, and imposing an economic quarantine in the form of protectionist policies, are the minimal steps needed to struggle against this epidemic. But putting these measures into practice is blocked by the neoliberal ideology, hegemonic on a global level, and by the demands of international institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the G-20.
During the years of crisis the relationship of forces within the world economy has gradually changed, and new foci of resistance have appeared. Asian markets have become more attractive than European ones, and the BRICS countries have come to be seen as a potential locomotive of world growth. The imperial hegemony of the US is increasingly in doubt, as is the ability of the leading Western powers to effectively control the processes occurring in the world. In the old industrial countries, falling wages and reduced social welfare provisions have sharpened class antagonisms. The Arab Spring has shown that the old mechanisms of rule no longer work. Whole regions of the globe are searching for a new model of development, and people are rising in struggle, defending their dignity and their right to independent development.
Paradoxically, the crisis of the system has also revealed the weaknesses of its critics, who during the years since have shown themselves again and again to be unprepared to formulate radical but concrete and practical alternatives, or to set forward a clear and realizable strategy, a plan of action to transform the situation. The crisis requires that we develop specific strategies for escaping from the dead-end of neoliberalism.
Many societies do not simply need changes aimed at improving the lives of the majority of the population, but are also having to deal with the consequences of long-term regression. Before them is the task not just of constructing new relationships and institutions, but also of rebuilding themselves on the ruins of what was destroyed. The results of the globalization of the years since 1990 cannot and should not be annulled, but the contradictions to which this period gave rise can only be done away with through a fundamental change in the social, economic and ecological order. These changes must be on a global scale, but they will be implemented on a national level. The reason for the present lack of radical breakthroughs is not that it is impossible to achieve anything in a specific country on its own. Every process needs someone to initiate it, and the problem is not in the limited nature of the possibilities. It lies in the lack of clear strategies, in the capitulation of the moderate left before neoliberalism and the “free market”, and also in the unpreparedness of radical movements to think and act in a practical fashion, responding to the specific needs articulated by society.
The issue here is above all that of formulating the principles of a new welfare state, oriented not toward increasing consumption but toward aiding social reproduction, and implementing practical solidarity on the institutional level. We need to pose afresh the question of public property, of the possibilities of expanding it, of the areas where this might be done and of the limits that might apply. We need to explore effective, modern forms of nationalization. Once again we need to consider the rights of workers and trade unions in relation to production, the rights of peasants/farmers in relation of land and agriculture, to ask how we can unleash a new industrialization in the developed countries while taking account of the environmental, social and cultural needs of society, including overcoming gender inequality, racism and oppression of migrant workers. We need to discuss questions of energy policy, reforms to the financial system, controls on the movement of capital and methods for combating offshore operations. We need not just to criticize the WTO or the IMF, but also to suggest an alternative strategy for economic integration and inter-state cooperation, including on a regional level.
As in the past, critical discussion of global questions remains tied to the calendar of events of the world elites, and we are unlikely to succeed in changing this in the near future. Since 2008 leaders of 20 economically most powerful countries regularly meet in different places around the world to discuss overcoming global economic crisis. There have been summits organized in London, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Seoul, Cannes, and Los Cabos, Mexico. And each time these meetings are accompanied by alternative or counter-summits, organized by social movements and civil society groups. The counter-summit in St. Petersburg will be the 7th and we hope that this will be an opportunity to move forward, develop and concretize the agenda of social change.
It is specifically important to stress the importance of democratic self-organization of the counter-summit process and for that reason reject the attempts to manipulate and control its preparation in a top-down way represented by the formation of “Civil 20”, a group openly declaring its affiliation with the organization of official Summit and promoting Big Business agenda.
We hope to use both the meeting of the G-20 in St Petersburg in September 2013, and also the BRICS process, to develop and put forward our own solutions to the questions which the neoliberal system is unable to resolve. The meetings and actions organized in this context must be combined into a single process which we term the Post-Globalization Initiative. We hope that the 2013 St Petersburg Counter-Summit will figure not simply as the latest forum for criticism of the system, but also a setting for the development of specific programs and strategies aimed at finding a way out of the crisis.
Over the past few years the neoliberal elites have shown their incapacity to come up with a viable anti-crisis strategy. The time has come for other forces –supporters of the welfare state, grass-roots and left organizations – to present their alternative. If this alternative is concrete and realistic, it will succeed in mobilizing society. The slogan “power to the millions, not the millionaires” will then be embodied in practical change.

  • 8 September: Occupy vs The Arms Fair
In 2011 all across the  world people took to the streets in from Greece to Spain from Egypt to  New York. These uprisings where the first glimpse of a global movement  against political and economic injustice. In 2013 the movement continues  and has spread to Turkey and Brazil where people face brutal state  repression.
Many of the weapons being used against the people in  these countries are made by British companies, and sold with the support  of the UK government, in a trade subsidised by the taxpayer. All of this in the midst of devastating cuts to public services in the UK.
This September international weapons companies will be meeting  warmongers and human rights abusers at one of the world’s largest arms  fairs to make the deals that will send deadly weapons around the world  to repress the 99%. From the tear gas in Turkey, Egypt and Brazil to the  weapons of the Syrian Assad Regime the DSEI Arms Fair is a global  showroom of bloodshed and profit.
Come and create a mass action against the arms fair in solidarity with the international struggles for justice.
When?  Sunday, September the 8th 12noon
Where?  Near the Excel Centre, which hosts the arms fair.
The meeting point will be announced on Saturday 7th September at 12 noon in the following places:

  • 13-15 September : Hub Meeting Barcelona Pre-Call to participation:
This year, in Turkey, Egypt and Brazil, the metropolitan strike has been used as a tool by the many people who are claiming new rights and a real democracy, reasserting its presence globally. We would like October 15, 2013 to be a territory inhabited and shared by many, constructed collectively, once the proposals to attack corruption and financial capitalism, not only symbolically, but also materially through specific practices, have been defined. We believe that this can only come about if the multiple networks, social movements and processes which in this common cycle of struggles are challenging the arrogance of financial power come together and discuss these issues. Thus, our proposal is to build, together, a meeting with working days to address the implementation of new forms of social protest in the week dedicated to the fight against debt and austerity of October 15. We would like to invite you to prepare these days with us, which will be the 4th edition of the Hub Meeting.
Objective: To work on the construction of the social strike for the week of October 15, 2013, where "social strike" means a generalized strike outside the traditional labor framework of the official trade unions, etc. The new paradigm of expropriation of the common wealth, based on the process of financialization of the economy and the limitation of access to knowledge/information, calls for new antagonistic forms and actions. The action must impact the flows and processes of the things that create value to affect the enemy. Blocking businesses, schools, universities, means of transport, etc. could be a starting point for the building of new institutions beyond the job market, for universal citizenship.  Moreover, people living precariously, paperless migrants, pensioners, students, the unemployed, interns... are groups in themselves, and are precisely those most affected by the material conditions of existence, who cannot participate in the typical strikes. We must be able to think up inclusive and open forms of mobilization and action that promote empowerment and participation in them. This meeting will serve to organise actions that can be replicated in different places, and share mechanisms and methods to create actions, participate in them and spread them, taking into account the each territory's specific characteristics. The aim is to construct a new kind of imagery to define new human, economic and social relationships that will help to transform the power relationships between governments, financial powers and society.

  • 4-6th of October European strategy meeting:
Economic governance, the Troika and the struggles against European neoliberalism
Conference centre
Lombokstraat 40
Amsterdam
At the Alter Summit in Athens in June, activists from across Europe decided at an open assembly to hold a strategy meeting to discuss and organise European struggles against the imposition of neoliberal policies by the Troika and the new EU economic governance, and its disastrous consequences.
Austerity, privatisation and attacks on social rights is being pushed systematically from the European level, and while there have been many impressive struggles at the national level in Southern Europe, European coordination and the European response is still sporadic.
First steps towards more European coordination have been around sporadic action days. While those days of action have allowed in some countries to get visibility and make resistances visible, it has not allowed to achieve a substantial turn around. At the same time new forms of action, organization and campaigning are emerging, but often with little coordination between the social actors - from the more radical to the more traditional - that promote them.
The purpose of the strategy meeting is to strengthen European coordination on these struggles against the measures and future plans to advance the neoliberal economic governance.
It will take place in Amsterdam, the 4-6th of October
The meeting intends to bring activists, organizations and networks that are addressing the undemocratic neoliberal crisis strategy and governance imposed from the EU - the EU shock doctrine - and discuss together which strategies have been more successful and to identify what are the common lines from which we can draw a genuine European movement:
 - what have been the  experiences of resistance
-  how do we strengthen coordination (of existing European initiatives and of national initiatives)
-  what common priorities and targets can be identified in the near future
- how can awareness raising be improved
- how can our internal communication and coordination be improved, and what strategies should be pursued.
We ask you to:
- discuss this proposal within any relevant assembly, platform or network at the local or national level.
- bring any analysis or position paper on the EU's neoliberal offensive to Amsterdam to share
- alert other relevant actors on the meeting
Translation to and from French will be available. We're looking into the possibility of covering other languages based on the needs of participants.
We’re looking for ways to ensure mutual support, and to strengthen our capacity to address the challenges at the European level that cannot be met at the national or local level alone.
Programme: see below.

REGISTRATION, COSTS AND FUNDING
Register for the meeting no later than the 30th of September at: EUcrisismeeting[at]tni.org

18.15 – 19.30: What initiatives and struggles needs to be developed?
What main struggles should we be involved in? The proposals will form the basis of workshops on Saturday.
We will run this session with a small group session for a first braining storming at the beginning (about 20 minutes)
Groups of max 6 should discuss the following question:
What are the three main initiatives/struggles/things to be done to stop economic governance policies or revert them?
We will collect the proposals in the plenary and work out together where there are convergences and define the working groups of the next day.

SATURDAY
9.45 -10.30:  Recall Friday´s conclusions and discussing the workshops
This session will decide the final division of working groups.
Taking into account the current political dynamic or key events as regards the economic governance agenda where we should act together, develop coordinated strategies, work plan as regards how to make a difference/change something etc. in the light of the overall aim, that we want to stop the current economic governance policies and revert them.
Likely topics that will be addressed in the workshops: the Troika, the Competitiveness Pact, the Fiscal Compact and Stability Pact: can they be rolled back?, financial reforms and how it results in neo-liberal governance and crisis management, attacks on social rights, the links between the internal and external agenda of the EU, eg. the EU-US free trade agreement.
Questions that will help to frame the workshops:
- what are the current dynamics as regards the advancement or introduction of new policies that we identify as opportunities for joint struggle?
- what opportunities we see to slow down or revert a process
- either at the European or at a national level?
- What are key challenges in different countries or subregions we are facing?
- Where groups would find it important/wish to work on joint strategies?
- How do take into consideration the unevenness of struggles?
- What have we learnt from previous struggles to take into consideration for our future struggles on economic governance.
10.30-12:30:  Workshops
12.30-13.30: Lunch
13.30-14.30: Workshops continued
14.30-15.30: Report back from workshops – discussion on outcomes
15.30- 16.00 Coffee break
16.00-18.00:  Collecting the demands and alternatives and articulating the different ideas and strategies
Based on the reports of the working groups - what demands and alternatives have been put forward as key in the next couple of weeks/months that should play a role in our campaigns and struggles.
What common strategies have been developed, and where strategies have to be articulated (we assume that we might have different strategies as we have different realities so e.g. if a a group works on the competitiveness pact - not all might work on that, but the question is how it can be articulated with others and vice versa).

SUNDAY
10-10.30: Summing up conclusions from Saturday, including important dates and responsibilities.
10.30-13: Identifying how to continue the work (working groups on specific initiatives, production/sharing of material, internal communication, next meeting/conference call)

Nowadays a plan is necessary to overthrow the worldwide authority of the financial market. How to make this process take shape is our responsibility, in this respect incorporating students, unemployed, precarious, retired, evicted, migrants, houseworkers etc. into the strike. It's time to create the basis for practices to proliferate citizen empowerment and welfare reappropriation under the slogan "We Rescue People, Not Banks." http://titanpad.com/15Osocialstrike

  • 19th October2013
It's just 44 days until the Global Frackdown and things are starting to heat up. Just a couple of weeks ago Americans Against Fracking delivered nearly 650,000 comments to President Obama urging a ban on all federal lands. In the UK, in Balcombe, demonstrators successfully stopped industry plans to frack their village and in Mexico, they formed the new Mexican Alliance Against Fracking. In Romania, thousands of citizens took to the streets to protest against shale gas licenses.
This year's Global Frackdown is already shaping up to be a major day of action. In New York City, thousands will protest Governor Cuomo, urging him to ban fracking in New York, in Los Angeles, there will be a bicycle ride culminating in a rally calling on Governor Brown to not frack the golden state, and other actions are being planned across the country. Internationally, there are partners signed up on six continents.
We are excited to announce we now have a tool on the website to register actions taking place as part of the Global Frackown. That page is here: http://www.globalfrackdown.org/events/
While there are currently only a few events on there, that number will grow in the coming days and weeks as individuals and organization register events on the site that are already being planned. Please add any action you are planning to the list.
Over the next weeks, we will be sending out messages once or twice a week to this list with updates, sharable images, videos, and the like. Here, for example, is a video that we created based on a trip some of us took in New York. We encourage you to create similar videos, images, and the like and share them with this list.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AfVv0qdJUI&feature=c4-overview&list=UUwLpzY6cUOEZAOwmIAez26A
Finally, one point about this list. The primary purpose of this list  - at least from now until October 19 - is to share and promote information about the Global Frackdown. We did receive some complaints about the level of posting and a number of people unsubscribed. In the interest of making sure that people stay on and receive information about the big day of action, please make every effort to only post things that are relevant to this list and make every effort, if possible, to provide some context to what you are posting. Through October 19, we will be making this a moderated list, but will make every effort to approve posts quickly.  Hopefully, this will promote sharing, but in a way that does not overwhelm people's in boxes. If you have feedback about this, please let us know.
Only 44 days to go. Lets rock it!

  • 11- 22th November COP19 in Warsaw, Polland  (march skeduled between 15th and 18th in warsaw)
This year, the international climate negotiations  are taking place in Warsaw from 11 to 22 November. This conference  (Conference of the Parties, COP) organized by the United Nations  Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is being held for the  nineteenth time. For too long we have been silent. We need action!  Governments are failing to bring forward sustainable proposals and we  cannot stay on the sidelines and wait. In addition, we see that it is  not our planet, but the big companies that profit from these  negotiations by imposing a “green” economy, leaving the people to pay  the bill.
Although there is a growing force in society and solutions are being  proposed among citizens, we must keep up the pressure on governments.  The discourse which claims that everyone can help save the environment  by taking up cycling, turning off the light or buying organic products  is only half true. Governments have to take responsibility and cannot  simply wait for changes in daily habits. We need to organize, mobilize  and take to the streets to urge governments to take action.
Take to the streets of Warsaw! During the negotiations in Copenhagen, the international climate  movement was very strong. Thousands of people mobilized for the giant  event "Planet First - People First." We are looking at a similar event  during COP19, where we take to the streets of Warsaw in a march for  climate and social justice. Great social changes are always initiated by  a mobilization of the people and by demonstrations. Since the beginning  of the economic crisis, international movements have increased. Now is  the time to mobilize again and to combine our demands: sustainable  solutions for climate and social justice.
Join us!Join us and support this initiative, with the "Klimaat and Social Rechtvaardigheid - Climate and Social Justice" movement and the Belgian-Polish group for the climate.
We also want to know if you plan to go to Warsaw with your organization.Let us know here.  If you want your logo to be added to the website, send a high quality  version to contact@climatejustice.eu. Note that this concerns only the  march and not the train.
Spread the word as widely as you can. Like our Facebook page and  share it with your friends, family or colleagues. You can also find  practical tools (leaflets or banners) here
Practical information on the march
The march will be held in Warsaw on Saturday, November 16, in the  afternoon. We do not at present have any concrete plans, but they will  follow soon! We will update information on time, place, transportation,  etc. Visit this page regularly or subscribe to our mailing list.
Train to Warsaw
We want to bring 1000 people to Warsaw by train to join the march.  Traveling by train is comfortable and environmentally friendly. There  will be food and drink, music, meeting new people and late night  discussions. The ideal combination for an unforgettable weekend!
We will leave Brussels on Friday, November 15 in the afternoon to  join the march on November 16. On Sunday free time is scheduled in  Warsaw and on Monday 18 at 6.30 in the morning we will be back in  Brussels. Yes, it is a very short trip and it will be an exhausting  journey, but we want to give the opportunity to as many people as  possible to join us, without sacrificing their holiday time. Moreover,  we are not going there to listen for days on end to the negotiations  that will be taking place, we are going en masse to show that we will no  longer accept false solutions. It is time for our voices to be heard,  and we demand climate and social solutions!
It is possible to board the train in Aix -la-Chapelle, Cologne,  Berlin and Poznan. If your organization wants to mobilize from Germany  and Poland, let us know! Individuals can also embark at these stations;  just mention it on the registration form. However, ticket prices will  remain unchanged because of administrative constraints. We already organized a train from Brussels to Copenhagen in 2009 to join  the event “People First, Planet First” during COP15. We have already  some experience. We mobilized nearly 1000 people, which put the climate  issue on the agenda of Belgian politics We need your commitment to make this trip possible!
1. Join us
We can  hire an SNCB train to go to Warsaw, but we have have to pay  the rental of the train. The price is relatively stable, regardless of  the number of wagons. What costs the most is the locomotive, the  workers, the use of the rails, etc.  That all comes to roughly 75,000  euros, with not much difference whether we use 3 or 10 cars wagons. 500 people = 150 euro per person     > 750 people = 100 euro per person. The train will become a reality if we have 500 people by the end of  September. Register now and invite your family, friends or acquaintances  to join the train!
2.Support
We are also looking for people to financially support this  initiative. If you cannot not join us, you can always make a donation  (click here). Your donations will be directly used (1) to help people  who lack financial resources; and (2) to lower the price for everyone.  Imagine that we receive 75,000 euros ... The trip would be free!
The ticket price includes only the round trip Brussels -Warsaw. We  will offer vegan meals on the train, to be ordered in advance and paid  for separately (more details later). Our partners in Warsaw are working  hard to find us cheap (or free) accommodations in homes, schools,  abandoned factories, etc. We will provide a warm bed for everyone, since  it will be cold in November!
We will also plan entertainment, a radio, a small Oxfam shop, beer,  etc! You can come either individually or with your organization. As in  2009, it will be possible for organizations to book a (half) wagon and  put up their flags/posters, to make it all more enjoyable.
We are waiting for you on the train, don’t miss it!

  • 22-24 November Blockupy Action Conference in Frankfurt.
In many workshops at the Agora99 the Blockupy conference was discussed as a further point for connection - with the perspective of deepening transnational coordination and working towards common actions before the upcoming EU elections next May.
From the Agora, what we learned from the workshops on Technopolitics, Migrating Europe and also Housing / Right to the City will be taken up again at the conference in Frankfurt. More information will follow on this shortly.

VERY IMPORTANT POINTS:
REGISTRATION
ACCOMMODATION
If you need a place to sleep please let us know by November 16 by emailing penn.platz@notroika.org with how many people you are and what nights you need accommodation. You will need to bring a sleeping bag!
TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT
We have limited funds to support travel costs from outside of Germany. It is very important that you tell us ASAP if you want travel reimbursement. Email international@blockupy-frankfurt.org with 1) a contact person and if possible name of collective/organization, 2) approximate costs of travel, 3) travel dates. DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 11.
We need to know in advance so that we can fairly distribute the money!

Dear friends,
the European Blockupy Action conference is approaching fast – only three more weeks and we will meet, debate, strategize, plan in Frankfurt. We are very much looking forward to that weekend and to further building and forming a European-transnational movement/s. – and by the way, last week the media reported after some time of silence of the planned opening of the ECB building. They are expecting the opening in the fall of 2014.
Therefore, it is clear! Blockupy will return to Frankfurt in 2014 to resist the opening of the ECB’s new headquarters. and even if we don’t know the exact days yet, it will be the fall of 2014. It is the main objective of the European Action Conference to make plans together, to build structures and to decide about action dates and concepts.
With this message we want to inform you on the organizational process– where will the conference take place, what will be organized, how to register and apply for travel support. Please scroll down and spread the news!
Not all questions are solved yet, of course, but we are working with high speed and full power to have an overall interesting and productive, engaging and enjoyable space. The overall time frame of the conference is clear, right now we are working on the concrete program, the workshops, the plenary sessions, the common debates. The website is being updated. You will find some information available here: http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/action-conference/organisational-stuff/ or http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/ and more to come.
However, there is still a lot work in progress, so please be patient with us, if there are any questions, comments etc., please let us know at:
international@blockupy-frankuftr.org

Material for mobilization/for spreading the information wide
You will find a bilingual poster and English flyer at: http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/aktionskonferenz/material/. International shipping is complicated and expensive, however, if there are groups and cities who would like to have larger amounts for their countries please contact us at luebeck@avanti-projekt.de asap.
 Please support the pre-planning
Please help us with your registration! We need to know beforehand how many people will participate in the conference, how much food is needed, how many people need (solidarity) accommodation.
There is a registration form on http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/action-conference/registration/. You can also fill that out for groups traveling together (not need for individual registration)

 Venue
The European Action Conference will take place at Studierendenhaus (Students House) located on the Campus Bockenheim of the University of Frankfurt at Mertonstraße 26-28, 60235 Frankfurt/Main. The nearest Metro station is „Bockenheimer Warte“ (take U4 from Frankfurt Central Station to get there).
Here you can find maps of Frankfurt, how to get there etc.: http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/action-conference/organisational-stuff/
 Accommodation
We will try to arrange as much solidarity accommodation as possible for those who register in advance until November 16th (please bring sleeping bags and mattresses). Please contactpenn.platz@notroika.org and see the registration form at http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/action-conference/registration/ . This is especially necessary for larger groups, but also for people in smaller groups. We also prepared a list of affordable hostels and hotels you can find here: http://blockupy-frankfurt.org/en/action-conference/organisational-stuff/.
Translation - Common Languages and Translation
Given that the Action Conference is an European/international event language is an issue. We will ensure that all plenary sessions are translated from English to German and vice versa. Since this is a self organized event we kindly ask everybody to think about the language issue for the various workshops. We will help wherever possible so that English and German is provided everywhere. For other languages, we ask for support and self-responsible organization from inside the groups.
Anyway please let us know your translation needs in advance (with your registration), so that we can help to organize whisper translation.
People who volunteer for translating please let us know via e-mail at peters@attac.de (which language, email address/phone number, time slots).
 Travel expenses / Travel funds
We have allocated limited funds to support travel expenses for people coming from outside of Germany.
Please note, you have to register for the funds beforehand (so we know what we can distribute and how to arrange refunding).
You therefore NEED to write to international@blockupy-frankfurt.org with travel dates, approximate costs, group/country and a contact email/telephone number until Nov 11th. Not all appliers can be refunded.

 Donations
The Blockupy alliance is a nonprofit, political alliance, it does not have or generate own money, something you could call a budget etc. The European Action conference is being funded solely by donations – from individuals, groups, alliance partners, smart cooperation. However, rooms, printing material, organizing translators does cost money, and we want to support those people from outside of Germany who cannot pay huge amounts for travelling.
Everybody who can is kindly asked to donate for the Action conference

  • 21 November, 2013 7-9.45pm. Forum on Natural Commons: Nature is Not for Sale
Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL
We're holding the Forum on Natural Commons to stand up to global finance and share ideas to protect our natural world for the benefit of all.
Why? Because the United Nations, governments and global financial institutions will be meeting at the same time in Edinburgh to plan how to put a price on nature so it can be bought and sold as a commodity.  So far this practice has utterly failed to stop the destruction of our forests, climate and biodiversity. Accounting for natural capital will result in increased exploitation of natural resources instead of protecting them.
That's why we're coming together to discuss alternatives to selling off the global commons. We'll be sharing good food and ideas with some of the leading thinkers on radical global ecosystem protection.
During the evening participants and delegates will be invited to sign the declaration against biodiversity offsetting which will return to Brussels for submission directly after the event.
You can take part on 21 November by registering for free on our website www.naturenotforsale.org/forum.
Join us in Edinburgh to stand up to global finance and share ideas to protect the commons for the benefit of all!
