View this email in your browserDear friends and supporters of the ECIT Foundation and Voters Without Borders, We are happy to announce that the Voters Without Borders team is holding a Symbolic Vote for the French Elections. We are asking for your help to ask your network to get EU  citizens and residents in France to participate in the vote which is now open! Our partners, who are fighting for expanding voting rights in France, held the first round in Paris which was very successful and welcomed by Parians! Now it is your turn to vote in the second round! And spread the word! The e-vote is now open and will remain open until 23 April at 5 p.m. The E-voting link can be found here! If you prefer to vote in person, there will be three polling stations at Place de la République, Saint-Denis and Gennevillers. The Voters Team will be at the Place de la République on 23 April (10am to 5 p.m). There will be an additional polling station in Bagnolet on the 24th.The aim is to highlight the exclusion of mobile EU citizens and non-EU nationals from exercising the right to vote where they and their families live. For the French Presidential Elections, there are 5.2 million EU citizens and third country nationals, both taxpayers and residents, who cannot vote! And yet the election on 24 April could be a close call and is an important one for Europe. This action also highlights the Voters Without Borders European Citizens Initiative (ECI) which demands an end to the exclusion of mobile EU citizens from exercising full voting rights across all 27 Member states. We are still campaigning for signatures, so please sign and share the ECI with your network! SIGN OUR ECIFor the first time, organisations representing EU citizens and third country nationals are coming together to claim universal suffrage as a European value. We have a historical duty to defend democracy as better than its alternatives, but never perfect. We must refuse the status quo and constantly campaign for improvements. After the symbolic vote, there will be an online event announcing the results on the evening of Tuesday 26  April. Make sure to follow our social media and website to join this event. We welcome all donations as well as chairs, tables and equipment for all our polling stations!DONATIONThank you very much for your support, please get voting and we look forward to seeing you in Paris! With all our best wishes for your Easter break, Marie Ronsmans, Catriona Mair, Tony Venables, Suzana Carp Copyright © *2022* *Voters Without Borders*, All rights reserved.
