Not sure how the Hae declaring love for Don matters. Multiple people did say Adnan asked her for a ride - that's not a problem with this theory. She said no (and her reasons for saying no might have to do with where she was between 2:30 and 3:15 - and the note she left for Don). If Adnan lent his car to Jay, it's reasonable that he would have wanted to get the car back before he went to track practice, so he'd have a way to get home afterwards.
