*La Marche pour la Justice Climatique, retour sur la réussite d’une
manifestation populaire internationale*



Le 13 novembre 2016, à l’occasion de la tenue de la COP 22, près de 5000
personnes, représentant des mouvements du monde entier, ont défilé à
Marrakech lors de la Marche pour la Justice Climatique et la justice
sociale.

Initiée par la Coalition Marocaine pour la Justice Climatique, concertée
avec un large mouvement social international, cette marche, qui s’inscrit
dans la tradition des marches organisées pendant les COP, partie du stade
El Harti pour rejoindre la place de BabDoukkala, a permis que les voix des
peuples pour la justice, dans toutes les langues,soient entendues.

La marche a été un appel fort à la prise de conscience mondiale des dangers
qui guettent la planète et les générations futures du fait d’un modèle
économique qui génère le réchauffement de la planète, les guerres et les
conflits, les disparités sociales et territoriales.

C’est aussi un acte de détermination de la société civile marocaine et
internationale à défendre les droits des peuples à un environnement sain,
et revendiquer des mesures à la hauteur de la crise climatique qui prennent
en considération  et rendent justice aux peuples et franges sociales
vulnérables (femmes, migrants, enfants…) qui subissent les conséquences
d’une pollution et d’un réchauffement climatique dont ils ne sont point
responsables.

La forte mobilisation, ainsi que la diversité des expressions font de cette
manifestation une réussite et nous tenons en cela à remercier le comité
d’organisation régionale ainsi que l’ensemble des participant(e)s

*The March for Climate Justice, a Successful International Public
Demonstration*



On the 13th of November 2016, for the occasion of COP 22, nearly 5000
people, representingmovementsfromaround the world walkedthrough Marrakech
during the March for Climate and Social Justice.

Initiated by the Moroccan Coalition for Climate Justice (MCCJ) and
reinforced by the participation of a large international social movement,
thisdemonstration, following the longstanding tradition of
organizedmarchesduring COP events, beganat El Harti Stadium and continued
over the next couple of hours to BabDoukkala, allowing the voices of people
supporting justice to beheard in everylanguage.

The March constituteda strong call for global awarenessconcerning the
dangers facingourplanet and future generations due to an economic model
thatdirectly and largelycontributes to global warming, wars and conflicts
as well as social and territorial disparities.

This demonstrationwasalso an act of determination by Morrocan and
international civil society to defendpeople’s right to a
healthyenvironment, and demandmeasuresthat are in line with the
climatecrisis and thattakeintoaccountclimatejustice for the mostvulnerable
segments of populations (namelywomen, migrants, children, etc.) that are
experiencing the consequences of pollution and global warming for whichthey
are not responsible.

Strong mobilisation, in addition to a diversity of expression are what made
thisdemonstrationsosuccessful, and wewish to thank the
regionalorganizationcommittee as well as all of the participants.
