Dear All,

We are announcing the 2nd Global Thematic Social Forum on Mining and Extractive Economy (TSF-Mining 2023) to be held on 16-20 October 2023, in Semarang-Indonesia.

The TSF-Mining 2023 will provide spaces among mining-affected communities, social activists, and scholar-activists gathering from the six continental regions of Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, North America and Middle East/North Africa to discuss the two main themes of this forum, i.e.: the Rights to Say No! and the “Nexus of Climate Justice, Just Transition and Transition Minerals” as building blocks to strengthen its international solidarity and advocacy. 

A 3-day event, the TSF-Mining 2023 will start with a plenary session on each day to discuss specifically the main themes. The rest of the day is then dedicated to parallel discussions or workshops on thematic issues that would contribute to the concrete outcomes of the TSF-Mining 2023 in response to the two main themes. An optional field visit to a mining-affected community is also included in the program. 

There is a general set of criteria for participants, and if you are interested to participate or have any affected communities and networks that you can recommend from your region, please contact the regional coordinator of the TSF International Steering Committee. There is a limited amount of bursary or subsidy funds for community representatives.
